When we entered the room a bug was crawling across the bed! When I called the front desk she said she would send someone down to kill it?!? 😣 I had to beg for another room & they finally offered the room next door… the bed was so wrinkled that it looked like someone had slept in it the night before!!! And, both room doors didn’t close properly!! Do yourself a favor & don’t stay at the place!!

Hotel Needs general improvement

Bathroom wasn’t so clean, the mirror had a large glue like smudge. The property in general is very run down which is a shame given its great location. Staff was friendly. Breakfast choices were also limited. I chose the hotel mainly based on the location but I was so disappointed with the overall look and feel. This hotel Seriously needs improvements, with basic upgrades like paint and pressure cleaning this place has the potential to look like a very charming old time villa.

This property definitely met our expectations! We loved that Villa 1565 was one of the Trolley Stops because of the Old Senator Tree. The front desk staff were more than accommodating, providing us a list of the recommended nearby restaurants with nice quick descriptions of each venue, the trolley map, and various brochures on things to do in the area. We tried the local Thai place across the street based off of the restaurant list and it was absolutely perfect. The room we stayed in had one chair, a microwave, a mini fridge, coffee maker, tv, and a decent sized bathroom. If anything could be improved before our next visit, I would stay the water pressure in the shower was pretty intense. It felt like we were being pelted with small pebbles, so needless to say the showers may need some work. When we checked into our room there appeared to be some pink paint on one of the chairs and a small hand towel maybe when the last guest or maintenance person tried to clean the spot, otherwise the room was spotless and tidy. We were overall happy with our stay and would choose to stay at this location again due to the convenience of the trolley, lovely free breakfast every morning, and proximity to everything downtown. All of the attractions were within walking distance so this made for the perfect location for our nearly effortless staycation. If you’re choosing a place to stay in St. Augustine for your next vacation, choose Villa 1565.

The hotel was in a great location, the room was terrible. The floor of the hotel was so dirty we had to wear flip flops in the hotel room. The fridge wasn’t cold and the bathroom was unclean and really out dated. The silicon was mouldy and coming away in places. I would not recommend this hotel.
