There was a huge dead cockroach right in front of the elevators at the lobby area. The whole place smelled like DDT and the hallway on our room floor did not seem to have been vacuumed for ages.

I’d like to preface that my family and I stayed at the Midtown Richardson in Kaohsiung for 9 days prior to checking into this one in Taipei for 5 days. I booked this property based on my *naive* assumption that I would have the same experience that we had in Kaohsiung which was very pleasant. The place was fine, but the carpets are disgusting... I had some issues with my room at first. The staff there were amazing and moved me instantly, and were really helpful. Over all not the worst place I've stayed, but could be a lot better. The location is awesome.

The hotel is a bit old and in some parts its showing its age. But generally clean (although we requested to change rooms because the first one had a broken aircon, broken bidet and the room was very small. It was such a tight space). The metro is just around the corner of the hotel. Very convenient. Ximending is just across the street from the hotel.

I had a disappointing experience at this hotel. They were extremely inflexible with their check-in policy—I arrived at 2:30 PM and was denied check-in, only to see guests being allowed in at 2:50 PM. It felt unnecessarily rigid and poorly communicated. I also booked the room for three people and was charged an additional fee for the third guest. However, upon check-in, the room was only prepared for two people—there were only two sets of towels and pillows. We had to request additional items, which should have been provided from the start given the reservation and extra charge. Additionally, while I understand that Taiwan has implemented rules against individual shampoo containers, the hotel seemed to use this as an excuse to cut corners. They did not provide basic amenities like lotion or conditioner at all. The rule does not prohibit providing these essentials—it only limits the use of individual bottles. Overall, it was a frustrating stay, and I felt the service and amenities did not meet reasonable expectations.
