We should have read the reviews more closely before we booked. There is an obvious problem with noise on the lower levels for sure. Our room was 1st floor and across the street was a pub who has a live band. We could see the drum set from our window! At 11:30 pm, my husband who wears hearing aids, but not to bed, had to go down to the front desk and they gave us ear plugs! These did not help. I need to mention that at check in, we did ask for a higher room but were told none available. Needless to say, the next morning we went to the front desk and asked again for another room or we were leaving. Low and behold, they had another room. We took a little time and with some luck found a lovely hotel who treated us so well, got a lovely clean quiet room and the rest of our holiday was wonderful. So we told the Bedford....no thanks! The room we had was strange as well. Sink in the bedroom etc etc sticky floors...I would seriously not recommend this hotel. I know they will reply with a, we are so sorry etc but really they are not! They are well aware of the concerns and do not address the issues. Location is not a selling point when there other great hotels which are located close to the city that have great service, clean rooms and care!

We had an extremely disappointing experience. The accommodations were unhygienic, and the staff was unhelpful and unfriendly. The room we were given had hair in the bathroom, a dirty toilet seat, and fingerprints all over the fridge. Despite sharing clear evidence of these unclean and unlivable conditions, the staff took no action that night. To make matters worse, instead of acknowledging their oversight or offering an apology, they charged us an upgrade fee for what was supposedly their best room. Shockingly, even in that upgraded room, the toilet flush wasn't working. Overall, this was a terrible experience. Poor hygiene, lack of basic service standards, and zero accountability. I would not recommend this place — not even for a short stay.

A beautiful place in the heart of downtown Victoria. You are minutes away from the beautiful harbour and are surrounded by shops and restaurants. Great location, great room. We will definitely be back.

Loved being in the midst of downtown Victoria. If you like to walk this is the place to be as there is so much to see, to do and especially loved the food and drinking establishments. Hotel was clean and quiet. We will definitely stay again.

Close to many popular food and beverage options in the tourism core of Victoria. Hotel was tired looking. Booked a room with a "courtyard view." Was overlooking a dirty, unkempt rooftop.

Our room with 2 beds was very nice. I missed the flowers that were outside the windows when I stayed last. It must be tedious, but the space under the beds was definitely not clean. The kitchenette was not well supplied.

It is definitely older but very central to all the amenities of Victoria..the room was very basic but ok..the shower was amazing and ample towels, etc. No in-hotel dining but many options just close by.. an adequate place to stay short term.

The room did not meet our our standards. The paint was falling off the wall in the shower. The carpet was missing in chunks into the washroom. You cannot sit on the toilet and close the door. Hotel could be very cute but needs major renos.

We loved the location. We stayed two nights and they did not change the sheets or give us clean towels but it was very comfortable. Our rooms had a view of the bay which was great! The price was wonderful and the location is the absolute best. And our clerk, Ron recommended a great restaurant named Jam. It was about a ten minute walk to Chinatown. Best Avocado toast and omelettes. Overall would stay again!
