A well kept, older hotel at the south end of Atlantic Ave. 4 to 6 restaurants within easy walking distance, and the trolley stops there to get you to further locations. Would happily stay there again.

Stayed for one night only. This is a basic hotel at the end of the boardwalk at Virginia Beach. We arrived early and were given a parking pass and access to a bathroom so we could hit the beach. Though it said 4pm check in they called me to let me know we had a room ready a little early. The room seemed a bit worn but it was overall clean. We did not spring for a beach view but the beach view is likely excellent. This hotel is right on a great section of beach and walkable to many eateries. You can't beat the location. There are good deals on weekdays but pricier on the weekend (of course). They said we could continue to use the parking until 2pm after check out. They have a small parking lot and only allow ONE car per room, but there are public parking spots not too far away for a daily fee. Had a great time and would like to go back. Super loved the beach.

This is not the fanciest hotel on the strip, but the location cannot be beat. It is at the very end of the boardwalk, so you can still walk to everything but also have a little more peace and quiet. Could use some upgrades, but the staff is friendly and my kids loved that the pool was 8’ deep at one end. Overall a very good value compared to the very pricey hotels nearby.

I liked the location and staff at the Schooner Inn. It is at the south end of the Beach, close to a great playground and a short walk to Waterman's for a great meal. The problem was the noise of quests getting drunk and partying until 2 am while their children were yelling and crying.

AC sounded like a jet taken off. They ended up putting me in another room where the AC was loud but at least it wasn’t making a high-pitched noise. The room stayed between 74 and 76°. The place is in disrepair. I guess you get what you pay for.

We stayed in room 224. We sweated through 76° in our hotel room because the AC system is not functioning properly and has not been for a good while. They are not on today’s updated cooling systems but they’re on a water-based cooling system so the best it can do is 20° cooler than outside working at premium conditions. I learned from an insider that the fire suppression system has not been working for months and the owner apparently has no intention of fixing it. But don’t think that the staff does not care! The staff gets five star rating every single person we came in contact with went above and beyond trying to make up for the issues we were having. They were helpful. They were polite. They were friendly, but I was told room 224 is not the only room on the property with this issue and there are some that can have nothing done for it. At least our room had a part that could be reopened a couple of times every day. I don’t know why someone would own a vacation property and not be willing to put any money in it to keep it up. I wondered what I could do to help the staff out but was told the owner is on the city council so there’s not much I could do. Period as I said the staff was great but the room, well, it wasn’t hit on much except hot!

The rooms are in desperate need of updating - could be cleaner - especially bathrooms - doors need washed down or painted, runners need to be put down in the area leading to the elevators the floor was constantly wet and a fall risk. The coffee pot leaked and ran into the microwave which we as customers had to wipe the microwave every time we used it. The door stop in the bathroom has so much dirt and filth around it. The comforters desperately need updated - had to pay a $50 fee in case anything got broken which nothing did. Would like my $50 refunded to me immediately-

We've been coming to Schooner for a few years and it feels like a little home at the beach for us. We like being down at the end of the boardwalk. Close good dining options. Affordable and spacious rooms. The hotel is showing some age. The A/C was struggling to keep up with heat. The staff is pleasant and helpful.
