Come for the room, stay for the pastry.

The recently renovated room was pleasant and fine. The lobby lounge was very nice, there is a decent exercise room, and the pool area was lovely although the swimming pool was ice cold. What made the stay special was the staff - everybody we encountered went out of their way to be gracious, Roy and Kirsten on in the reception area, the morning staff all of them in the breakfast room, and housekeeping in maintenance as we pass them in the corridors. We weren't asking for stuff left and right, they were just checking in to make sure everything was really good. And it was my mom said this was the best Holiday Inn she ever stayed at. The restaurant there opened 4 days ago, and they have it dialed. We had a fantastic buffet breakfast on Saturday morning, which consisted of a variety of American items Very good coffee fruit and home cooked eggs not powdered eggs. The chef, Louis, whose house made puff pastries maybe fruit strudel, absolutely divine and rivals any fine bakery in Sonoma County. Nothing special about the amenities but everything was very clean. Although the hotel was super noisy even from a quiet room because it is right next to the freeway and it is a holiday weekend with lots of traffic, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to explore Sonoma wine country and surrounding areas. A friend recommended staying in Windsor to have more things to see and do as well as option to eat out. We are a couple traveling with a toddler and had a rental car and parking is free at the hotel. The hotel has great location, a lot of things were in walking distance (restaurants, convenience store, etc). The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming and the room was very comfortable and spacious. We had breakfast included and they had great variety of full breakfast options. Vending machines and laundry facilities available on each floor as well as microwave and mini fridge available in the room. Our only disappointment was that the indoor heated pool (which was one of the reasons we booked this hotel) was not heated at all and we couldn't use it (it was just too cold). Additionally, the safe in our room did not work, however the front desk promptly checked and also offered a room change because of this.
