Our room was terrible. They said we were on the first floor but had to go down many steps arounds the back. The room was not comfortable. The bathroom door would not close and needed updating. My family's room was much nicer and more comfortable. The price was over $500 nightly. Not worth it

Poor value for the price. Minimally staffed with limited check in time and no breakfast. Shower difficult to figure out, and half the outlets didn’t work to charge phones. Level of service was that of a motel.

We loved the river out back, and places to sit. We loved having a swing on our porch. The staff was excellent. I wasn’t keen on the very tiny shower stall, I kept hitting my elbows, and the jets on the tub looked dirty, so we didn’t use it. There was no breakfast offered and hard to find in town.

We recently stayed at the Shire and out of the hotels I’ve ever stayed at this hands down was the worse !! So the view facing the river is great and only positive thing. The room we had was a king bed river view room 119 and inside looked nothing like the pictures . Mold outside and inside the room , worn out furniture, carpet is wore out , has a portable space heater for heat , door is hard to lock , when you walk in the floor is uneven but hard to see why there’s a worn out rug covering the worn out carpet , the fire pits outback now have cheap sterno inserts instead of actual wood logs like pictured , when someone is in the room above you all you here is footsteps when someone walks above you spent one night listening for hours someone’s dogs barking that was left in there room , as soon as you walk in the room you can smell strong musty smell , the lobby is about 8 ft x 10 Ft no formal lobby. If we had know any of these we would have spent the extra to stay at Woodstock resort or drive back to Stowe . Not sure how it’s considered a 3 star hotel

Had road view but was ok for the amount of time spent there. Located in perfect spot for easy walking to grocery store and downtown shopping. Hotel offers complimentary Coffee Bar, waters, cookies and even bicycles to ride

New facility with very cozy beds. Walking distance to downtown Woodstock. For the room price, would have been nice to offer a continental breakfast. Parking is some what limited, so don’t arrive too late. Housekeeping woke us up at 830am to ask if we were checking out. May want to invest in Do Not Disturb signs for rooms.

We arrived later in the evening so we did not actually interact with staff in person, however, the communication with staff through text worked great. We stayed in the River House and the room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the adirondack chairs outside of our room overlooking the river. The location was a short walk into the downtown shopping area. Virtual check-in and check-out was easy. We would definitely stay here again. The only recommendation I would offer is to provide an option of decaf coffee and creamers at the coffee bar in the building for the late comers who might enjoy an evening coffee.

Not what we expected for the price.

Part of the property looks like a travel lodge hotel. Half the rooms are on the parking lot. Decently maintained. However not what you expect for over $400/night. Slightly out of main part of town but walkable if town parking is an issue. Grocery across the street is a nice benefit. Free onsite parking was never an issue. Staff is pleasant. Definitely request a room at back of the property or in the river house. Otherwise you are overpaying.
