The Gulf Of Mexico is your private beach and its right out your front door. Restaurants, fishing, sailing, a lighted pool and a lighted croquet field is out your back door along with an outdoor kitchen and fire pit that accommodates 24. You're minutes away from the casinos and an hour away from either New Orleans or Mobile, AL. " Mardi Gras Parades" and "Cruising The Coast" along with fishing and sailing excursions are just some of the fun near by. The Pool House sleeps 6 . There is an additional Bungalow that sleeps 4.

If you’re planing to visit the area and have plans for other activities don’t book your stay at the shell house….,. You will never want to leave this wonder property! If you somehow can take in all the wonderful furnishings, books, games, decorations and antiques inside the cottage you might have time to enjoy the pool. There’s also coffee and breakfast on the beautiful patio. Great time to enjoy the exterior experience and the visiting birds. Now it’s time to move to the front yard and find one of the many seating areas, swings and for sure take a seat in the wind phone gazebo. You now have a front row seat of the Golf of America and the most beautiful trees in the world the live oaks. Try to pick your favorite of the many on the property but enjoy each and every one!

As long as this place is available, this is where we will stay each time we visit the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The property is beautiful…from the ocean view and majestic trees to the charming pool house that literally looks like a home featured in Southern Living. The property is well maintained with tons of amenities. Tom and Lydia are most gracious hosts. The location is perfect, just a short drive to any of the popular tourist attractions but away from the congested areas. We absolutely did not want to leave this slice of heaven, and we will definitely be back, hopefully with more family to stay in the bungalow as well as the pool house.

First of all this house was MAGICAL! It was like staying at your cool, artsy, french grandmas house. The house was packed with all you need and MORE. We had our 3 girls and MIL with us. The only thing that I was not happy about was how the listing was a little decieving. We thought we booked a two bedroom, 2 bathroom. But it was actually a one bedroom, one bathroom and a half bath. It had a living room with two twin beds, and a fold out couch. Sharing one bathroom for 6 ppl was a little frustrating. We made it work but I think they need to be clearer on the layout of the house. The other bathroom that was supposed to be the 2nd bathroom was the outside pool house with a shower and toilet. Next thing was the POOL! It was awesome to have a pool that we could use when we didn't want to do the beach. The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of, the kitchen was well stocked, and our stay was definitely one we will remember!

Thanksgiving 2024!

My sister, brother-in-law and I stayed at the Shell House for Thanksgiving this year but also to have a small memorial for my mom who passed away in August. It was the perfect place to be together and remember her and celebrate her favorite place be, the MS Gulf Coast, where she grew up. The place has everything and even though the setting is perfect, and the decor is just beautiful, it has a feeling of "home" and that is what we miss the most about our mama. Highly recommend this place and it was warm enough that we could sit outside by the pool and walk to the beach, too. You'll want for nothing here! We cooked our Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen, which has everything you need! The hostess, Lydia, was wonderful! Her family & friends were coming and going to celebrate the holiday, but you didn't even know they were there because the place has so much room. PERFECTION! We'll definitely be back!

This place is wonderful and you will not want for things to do. It rained during our whole stay so we were not able to use the pool but indoors there was every board game and magazine imaginable.With all the furniture it was a little crowded.

Listing of the property completely inaccurate.

Beautiful property We were mislead as to what to expect. When we booked a couple of months ago, the ad read house for rent. We saw pictures of the house and pool house. Right before we got there we were told pool house was where we would be staying. That was fine except it was listed as a 2 bed, 2 1/2 bath sleeps 6. It is actually a 1 bed 1 1/2 bath. 2 roll out beds, but the place is cluttered so no where to put them. Also no curtains in dining room and great room so at night, the owners, who live right there in the house can look right in and anyone that pulls up can see you. No Privacy. Pool is clean, but always looks dirty. Furniture around pool and other outdoor areas need a freshening up.

This property was perfect for our family vacation! The pool house was well equipped for all of our needs and wants, was exceptionally clean, and the property has the most beautiful views. Our family enjoys low key and privacy, and the pool house provided that. We truly felt at home! A big thanks to Lydia and Tom for hosting our family for the week! We'll always have fond memories of our Mississippi adventure, largely due to our experience at the Shell House Estate! We would highly recommend, and if we ever find ourselves back in Gulfport, we'll have the perfect place to stay! We miss the view already!

Family getaway

The pool house was beautiful. Just what we were looking for in our beach adventure. The kids loved the pool, water was warm so they never got too cold and had to get out. Yard is nice and shaded with fantastic views of the water. Beach was just across the road from the property. Could easily walk or take a short car ride to one of the east parking areas. Beach was beautiful, soft white sand. Since it is located on the sound the waves were very small which was great with small children. Would definitely recommend
