Loved the casita with private spa and nighttime stargazer viewing. We have been here many times but this was a special experience. Rooms are immaculate, staff is friendly and courteous, and the sports amenities are first rate. Can’t wait to return and book another casita with private spa !

Highly recommend. Pictures do not do it justice. Resort style feel. Lobby and property quite high end feeling yet cozy and classic. Lot's of activities. Croquet, bocce ball, tennis, star gazing, free bikes for borrow, many pools and jaccuzis, lots of nice short walks with cactus gardens and fountains etc. FREE YOGA?!? was grea. Dinner at on site restaurant was fantastic, not too salty, ok value/price. Staff was friendly. Will return. Nicest place in town I am told. Felt like they were at <50% capacity.

Nice grounds, great yoga, comfy bed and pillows. Casita is dated and shows its age. There's wear that could be fixed with simple maintenance - lightbulbs out in the room, dusty/dirty walls and floor moulding, carpet is dirty, walls have peeling paint, bathroom shower pressure is so strong that tub fills up when taking a quick shower. We stayed in Casita 63 (Tamarisk). Maybe other casitas are nicer?

On the positive side, the check-in and front desk staff were helpful and friendly, despite the number of issues guests were experiencing that day. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times in the past and have always enjoyed the location and amenities, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. This time, rooms were not ready at the scheduled 4:00 p.m. check-in. Several guests, including us, were asked to wait. Our room was finally ready about 30 minutes later. When we entered, it was cold, damp, and had a noticeable odor. The room was also run-down, and the heater was not working. Although the room included a fireplace, we were told the property no longer allows them to be used. We contacted the front desk about the lack of heat and were told maintenance would be coming shortly. It soon became clear that we were not the only guests without heat, as others were also waiting for maintenance. After waiting and seeing no resolution, we decided to leave and did not stay the night. To their credit, the hotel acknowledged the situation and agreed to refund our stay, though at the time of writing we have not yet received the refund, which adds an additional layer of inconvenience. We had paid for an upgraded room, which made the experience even more frustrating. I hope this was an isolated incident, but the condition of the rooms and some of the amenities clearly need updating.

We stayed in a casita with a private hot tub.. it was quiet, very clean, the bathrooms were very clean and the room was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, a coffee maker, a little sink area -- perfect vacation stay. The grounds are very well maintained and the customer service was great. We also had dinner one night at the Fox Bistro i think its called. The food was good, excellent service and a very attentive staff. If you go out in the tiny town, go early everything closes 8pm or so. Its about 7 miles from Casa del Zorro. There's a few restaurants, a taco shop, a couple bar and grills. No big box stores or food places. There are a couple grocery stores, a pharmacy and liquor stores. There are no smoke shops or weed dispensaries close by, you gotta head out towards Julian or to Alpine. All and all I recommend Casa Del Zorro.

Pool was cold. The one by the restaurant was a little cloudy. First room didn't have a fridge, but the second one did. Dining room was closed to breakfast on Monday morning. Staff friendly. Beautiful grounds.

Overall, the property was great, rooms and grounds very clean and well kept and the restaurant and bar were great, staff were great. The issue was the pool areas, specifically the main pool. Algae growing along the sides of the pool, wrappers in the pool for several days indicating it had not been cleaned. Hot tub in main pool area not working. Slightly off season stay but a week prior was Borrego Days which is always a full house. Not going to prevent us from staying again but could certialy be better.

Pet friendly, quieter, expansive 4 star resort with very friendly staff from front desk to bartender/restaurant staff, room service staff. Beautifully maintained historical property w/oldest mural in San Diego County (can be viewed in Fox themed bar). Cool off in your choice of several pools & hot tubs to use. Rooms & bathrooms are large with very comfy beds. Great A/C. Rooms are surrounding pools so it makes for easy access. Only complaint is small portion of certain menu items that are overly priced such as $22 for a tiny caprese salad. Other than that, great place!!
