Hair in both beds, a lot in one, two hairs in the other. They brought us linen at 9:30 pm but no offer to remake the bed. After we stripped the bed we realized they brought one sheet. We made do and went to Denny's for breakfast the next day. The restaurant is cafeteria style. Tips are requested before you get food or service. Diner at the Thunder Bird was out worst meal on our trip with zero service once we sat down.

The town of Chinle is pretty strange, but the place is nearer the canyon and feels completely different. Staff is always friendly, rooms are clean, beds are comfortable—can’t beat it for the price. And Canyon de Chelly is amazing.

The first desk lady was not polite and changed our room placing us closer to all rooms already taken, we had rooms in different area that was not in crowed area. We traveled in far and would not let us use restroom in office area even after seeing us dancing around. Need better service who knows customer service skills..

We stayed one night. It was convenient and easy to find. The small town had limited restaurants. They gave us a great recommendation for a tour guide that we thoroughly enjoyed

An Excellent Location

The benefit of staying at the Thunderbird Lodge is the location within the national monument grounds. The rooms are satisfactory for a visit, clean and quiet, but that's about it. The dining options at the cafeteria are very limited, indeed, but the food is tasty. Overall, the staff is competent, friendly and informative. It's a nice place that will remind you of motels from the past.
