We requested a King bed and the room they gave us was from the 1950’s. The shower was cracked in several places, the sink was small and it just Luckily we were traveling with some friends and they said their room was great but had two double beds, and we assumed that’s why we got the room we did. Went to the desk and got a much better room only there was no shower curtain and didn’t realize it until getting ready to take a shower.

The room had a musty smell to it when we entered it. No hot water for our showers in the morning. They said it was due to power failure overnight. If that was the case, they should have known to reset the hot water heater immediately after it went off. They did not so we had cold showers.

Great location, quiet and excellent value. Quiet. Staff super friendly and good tours offered. Property is clean but would benefit from upgrades. Rooms ok but dated. Only choice of food is the cafeteria which has limited options, and also need a refresh. Again - pefectly fine for the price charged and conveniently located.

Not a lot of accommodation choice at Canyon de Chelly but I’d say Thunderbird Lodge easily beat the nearby Holiday Inn for charm and a good position close to the Canyon. The rooms were clean and comfortable, not super smart, but fair enough for the price. The cafeteria is the only on-site dining option where friendly staff served up pretty basic food. Easily the best things on offer were the Mexican and Navajo offerings, I’d stick with those myself.

This lodge is like a little piece of history and run in a no-fuss manner reminiscent of travel lodges I’ve visited in National Parks over the years. Run by friendly, capable staff and situated near the entrance to Canyon de Chelly, it was the perfect place for me to stay. I hope to return soon, but stay longer next time!

Great place to stay if you are going to Canyon de Chelly. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a decent fridge and microwave. There is a laundromat on site. Cafeteria style dining offers a limited selection but food is fine, not fancy.
