I chose to stay at the 4.5* Tivoli hotel, as opposed to some of the cheaper value neighbours because of the VIP status and strength of quality that it showed in the property details and reviews. Unfortunately this hotel is a long way of 4.5* and is not worth the additional cost. Located 15 minutes walk from Copenhagen Central Station, it is well located for the City and the shopping mall nearby. However the hotel itself feels to be holding onto a former glory it is no longer living in. The room I was in had a nice view, however it was very loud from a nearby fan or very noisy unit. The bed linen had a rip in, the towel was dirty, the mattress is very worn and squashed out (see photos) and I had to call maintenance as my sink was blocked, something housekeeping would have noticed when preparing the room but chose not to get resolved. Housekeeping has to be requested, which is strange for this calibre of hotel. There is no turndown service and no robes for the pool. The 20% discount for food and drink voucher was not offered upon check in and I had to go to ask for it- at which point I decided not to spend any more money in this establishment. It’s a champagne image on a lemonade budget. There are plenty more hotels available which I would suggest are much better value.

Comfortable beds and bedding. Internet access good. Smart TV enabled us to log into our home accounts which was great. 10-15 mins walk to S train / Metro / Main station and Tivoli Gardens. 5 mins walk from riverside walk Pool and changing facilities were all great. Didn’t get to try any on site food and beverage as too busy exploring the city’s offerings. Bike hire available also.

Still waiting for my refund as I didn't sleep for over 24 hours due to how bad the noise from outside. I actually paid for another room in a different part of the building but clearly someone complained about their room and got moved to mine, so I ended up in the bad room when I checked in which was apparently an 'upgrade'. They do this regularly at the hotel, so be careful if you get a free upgrade, it's just a room no one else wants.

Staff were all incredibly helpful, friendly and professional. Rooms are decorated nicely and appear to be well maintained. The pillow menu is an excellent idea, something more hotels need to pay attention to. I will definitely be returning and very much look forward to my next stay.
