Had deluxe room which was nicely renovated. It’s a small room but good enough for a night or 2. They provide five dollar Dennys voucher per person and free drink coupon. Casino is all slots with no table games.

When you get here parking is in a parking lot across the street- so when you have a bunch of luggage you have to lug it through 2 parking lots to get to the building. Having all of my luggage trying to open the doors that close in on you was hard. When you walk in the smell of cigarette smoke hits you like a brick wall. It was SO bad tha I got very nauseous from the smell. It says that there is smoking and non smoking at their "casino". Its all one tiny room and it all reeks and the machines were old. One out of four took any bills. We went to play one of the buffalo games and my bf goes to put money in and gets screamed at by a guy who rushes over from the bar. We have no clue what hes talking about but he accused my bf of trying to steal his winnings saying paying him out (why would you walk way from a machine that is paying out?). It put a bad taste in our mouth we left. (Suprisingly it didnt smell at the jailhouse, we gambed and had dinner there and it was amazing.)Last the shower head was not on properly. When you turn it on half of it sprays directly in your face or straight up to the ceiling. Wont return. The lady who checked us out when we left was pleasant.

Great Choice for a Larger Room

We only stayed one night, but we really enjoyed the Hotel Nevada. The room was spacious, clean, and updated, and the kids loved the queen bunk bed. A landmark in Ely, the Hotel Nevada has a long history and we felt like we were a small part of its continuing legacy. Great staff and great location.

Besides the lovely staff and the delicious meal we had at Dennys, as we were leaving, my husband realized he had left his silver cross necklace. As we called, we hoped they would find it and to our happy surprise, they had just gotten it to the front desk as we ran in. Very lovely people and a very lovely hotel. We will be choosing Hotel Nevada if we’re ever in the area!

The building is from 1929. It's been maintained. They allow smoking in the casino so it tends to infiltrate to the upper floors. The room was clean and no musty smell.

Rude staff, small town problems......

Staff are very rude here. We were at the check-in counter for 4 minutes waiting for the clerk to come check in us in, mind you she had looked at as three times and then said"oh do you need to be checked in?". Staff's boyfriends hang out at the bar and get drunk and the staff come and hang all over them in front of customers. Residents in this town think they can be rude to the visitors because most of them are coming to the prison to visit inmates so they treat the civilians like crap. You have to be a part of the in crowd to be liked in this town or at any of the establishments in this town.

Honestly when we saw the hotel from outside and the old lobby we got a bit scared about the rooms. We were pleasantly surprised by the renovation and the nice beds. Bath still needs remodeling or a nice new coating, but it is a historic place and for a night stop was more than good. The only problem we had was that they have nothing family friendly neither in the hotel nor in Ely, so we were stuck in the room. The dining is limited - pricy Italian restaurant ( prices higher than San Diego and Dennys - which had terrible service- they just don’t want to serve people , you can wait for hour and they won’t take your order.

Updated room, great bargain!

Husband and I stayed 1 night and were very happy with Hotel Nevada. The front desk staff tried hard to accommodate my request for a quiet room and she was very welcoming. I paid a little more for an updated room and it was worth it. I hate hotel room carpet so the plank vinyl was appreciated and lovely. Room looked really fresh for the age of the hotel. Free drink upon arrival and Denny’s coupon for breakfast were an unexpected plus. Would recommend and stay again.
