Overall, this hotel was very good. The only issues were that the surge protectors had a problem. Also, there was only the main lock, and no secondary lock.

Upon check in , the front desk guy was not welcoming as one would expect in such a lovely location. Not one smile or “welcome to Blue Door Inn” , Apparently this is his baseline as every encounter with him (owner or mgr ?) was the same. Maybe he needs a vacation or a hug.

Great stay!

We loved our stay at the Blue Door! Maybe it’s an older place but inside our room everything was neat, tidy, clean, and there was no ‘old place’ smell. The water pressure in the shower was great and the bed was very comfortable. It probably only took us ten minutes to drive to the RMNP entrance from the inn and the area was quiet.

The room itself was clean and comfortable and spacious. We had a mountain view. The pool was “open” but it was not heated as advertised and the hot tub was not filled. There’s no space for a fire to sit under the night sky, also advertised but not available. Breakfast was mediocre; we ended up getting food elsewhere and I had hoped to save some money with the continental breakfast. Needs more options for choices. The location was good; close to Estes Park Visitor center about 1/4 mile where you can catch the Hiker Shuttle (highly recommend) and the River walk to town.

Messy area had a lot of clutter and dirt and all around. There was some broken glass cigarette butts. Walking a dog was a real challenge because of all the pieces of wood There were also many many holes from animals, so it was a real challenge to walk around when it was dark, and not stepping one of the little holes. Also, the asphalt was not even in some spots and broken. The room was very clean, and the pool area look very nice. The the area that I am talking about is around the picnic tables and grill. Also, it says in Expedia online it is $25 a day for a dog when I got there it was $30.

A rather well worn place. The fellow at the front desk was nice. As an aside, our room had no smoke detector, just a place in the ceiling where it should have been.
