Well, from start to finish this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We got to the hotel at 6:25pm after a long day of travel. The line to check in was out the door. After waiting 55 min to check in, our room wasn’t ready. Check in starts at 4pm. It was now 7:20. How on Earth can they not have rooms ready. Instead of our 2 queen room, they offer us a kind suite with a pull out couch. We get to the room, and there is no couch in the room. We must go downstairs again to deal with this. She said we can have a 2 queen room like we booked but in an hour. Finally got into our hotel room at 9:30pm!!! I have never had anything like this happen before. Now to the room. Things seem to be falling apart. The mirror is peeling or something (see photo), the wood door is splintering, & the bathroom smelled kind of like a musty old towel. I think it was the shower curtain. The phone also had no numbers for room service, guest service, front desk or anything. It was just blank (see photo). When we needed new towels I had to call only cell cause I didn’t have any way of knowing how to call on the room phone. Waited 30 min for towels. Called again. Waited 15 min. Went down to the lobby. An hour after our initial request, we finally got towels. When house keeping would come, they made the room up, but with the same bedding. They didn’t make the beds with new sheets. I know this because one had a whole in it and every day there was the sheet with a whole in the same place.

This hotel was overbooked and unfortunately the hotel did not handle the situation well. After a delayed flight, and a long trip into Manhattan from the airport. I arrived around 2am and was surprised to see approx. 15-20 other guests waiting in the lobby. It was evident that many had been there a while and no Park Central staff were at the Front Desk (or anywhere in the lobby). Many guests, including myself tried to contact Park Central staff via phone. Most of the phone numbers rang for a long time until someone finally picked up. I was informed that someone should be there soon. After some time, an employee came out and informed us that the hotel had been overbooked and handed out a letter to most of the guests. I didn't get any explanation, but was informed me that I needed to go to another hotel nearby. Any questions I had were met with "I'm just the messenger". Once I arrived at the second hotel, the checkin desk was also confused as what to do with the letter. I eventually was checked in, however this hotel was not similar in quality or location. I also had problems with the number of nights covered (my keycard was deactivated in the morning). Overall I am still waiting to hear back from Park Central on any explanation or refund.

For a NYC hotel, we had plenty of space for a family of 4. The location was close enough to Times Square and Broadway, but far enough away to miss out on the extra noise those areas make. The only negative thing was there was mold/mildew in a few spaces in the bathroom.

This was my 4th time staying at the Park Central. Sometimes I booked direct, sometimes I bundle hotel and flight through Expedia. I'm traveling for my job which involves presenting concerts at Carnegie Hall which is right across the street so the location is ideal. This last trip I noticed the hotel is starting to show signs of wear and tear in the rooms - ratty carpets, water damaged bathroom doors. And while they do have a nice grab and go market in the lobby, it would definitely enhance the experience if they had a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room. But what really bothered me this time was on the 4th night of my 4 night stay, housekeeping started pounding on my door (that had a do not disturb sign posted) claiming there was a discrepancy with my room - at 11:30 PM at night! Not cool! I complained to the manager on checking out the next morning and she apologized explaining their "system was down." Even so, you don't go pounding on someone's door at 11:30 at night. I will definitely rethink my stay next time.
