I was disappointed to discover that the queen bed I paid for was actually a full-size bed, resulting in an uncomfortable sleeping experience for both nights. Despite my inquiry, the front desk insisted it was a queen bed, which I strongly disagree with. Furthermore, the bed itself was uncomfortable, and the pool appeared murky and unclean, which deterred us from using it. The room's appearance also differed significantly from the pictures, being much smaller, and the WiFi was not functional on the first night. Considering the $250 price tag for two nights, I was underwhelmed and will not be returning. In comparison, I found the Motel 6 in Branford to be superior, despite being more budget-friendly. I would give this establishment two stars, primarily due to the complimentary breakfast. However, the staff was lovely and courteous.

Employees friendly and courteous. This property needs an all around upgrade. Room 184 torn, ripped curtains, tub area needs to be replaced or cleaned more throughly, could use fresh paint, air fresheners, stale oder, no bath room toiletries supplied. Complimentary breakfast was great.

Unfortunately we had hoped the converted Best Western plus to Clarion would have gotten even better than it was. No improvements. The room wasn’t heated when we arrived, no bath mat, no shampoo, no shower soap and this time the train outside our window was more annoying than we remembered. Probably won’t go back after many stays there.

Checked into room which was a pleasant experience the lady at the desk was very nice. Dropped bags off in room. When coming back to the room we were not able to get in. Key didn’t work because the box on the door was dead. Staff at front desk tried to charge the key pad but that did not work. I was told that I had to wait until morning when management came in to get my things because there was no other access to get in room. She said she tried to call someone but they didn’t answer and because the next day was Saturday I would have to wait longer for someone to come in to open the door. There’s no excuse for this kind of service and that there is no other way to get into their rooms. I am beyond pissed off for the way this is being handled.

Bathroom had hair on shower wall, shower curtain had stains on it, and I noticed hair in bed. A spot of mildew in bathroom as well (room 187). Almost slipped going down the pool steps (even holding handle). Not enough grip on tile surface. Went to get orange juice for breakfast. Was told, all out of juice. Only water available. Not recommended.

I had to change my room twice. A dog next door continuously barked. The second room, my daughter opened the sliding glass dog and a huge Rottweiler came barging in as another tried to enter.

Did not meet expectations

Things that were nice: The entry lobby and hallways were recently redone and it looked really nice. The rooms are ok, it was comfortable - though there was way too much furniture squeezed into a small space. The breakfast had lots of options and it was easy to get everything we wanted. The courtyard / layout of the building is unique and it could be really nice if someone actually finished renovating it. Things that were terrible: The bathroom was dirty - grime all over the shower tile, hair in the tub, and blood on the bathroom wall. The pool was not properly chlorinated, which means it was so cloudy it was not swimmable (possibly filled with bacteria). All of the doors were old, which means they were barely secure. And there was no security. Anyone could walk off the street and walk right to a hotel room door. Also, someone smoked in their hotel room near us and the entire building smelled like cigarettes.

Not worth the money

First, room service never came. The tiny trash barrels were overflowing from not being emptied. Second, there was no room service, and the restaurant that served low-grade bar food was only open from 5 to 10. The bathroom faucet was leaking, and water was all over the counter. A guy came to look at it and told me not to push the handle too hard! Third, around 12:30 am, a dog started barking. After about a half hour, I called the front desk. The only solution was to offer me a new room. Really? My son was asleep, and I'd have to pack everything up to move. Terrible experince.
