Where do I start? There was black mold in the bathroom on the wall and at the bottom of the tub there was holes in the walls. There was clip toenails on the sofa when I pulled it out for the sofa bed. There was a drip pan underneath the kitchen sink to catch the water that was dripping. There was absolutely no dishes or should I say clean dishes, a.k.a. plasticware in the room the coffee pot was filthy dirty, and had a used coffee pod in it holes in the walls. The people that are living there not staying there for a short time up all night, slamming doors, smoking pot banging on walls floors I have stayed at several motels at least monthly for the past 15 years and never been in such a filthy place or felt uncomfortable going outside I don’t wanna say uncomfortable unsafe The room was so filthy dirty that we chose not to eat breakfast that was provided in our room cost because we didn’t know how dirty the kitchen was so we ate elsewhere.

This property was a major disappointment. It is interesting that different properties under the same chain’s banner could offer such different experiences. I understand that they are likely independently owned, but I’d think the Quality Inn brand would have some minimum standards. We stayed the night before this at a Quality Inn in Northampton, MA, and had a lovely experience, then came to South Portland and were sorely disappointed. I won’t go into all the deficiencies of the room, but the standout experience was being told that the hot water dispenser at the lobby coffee and tea setup was not available other than at breakfast. This was a first for us. The staff member who imparted this news was quite sullen and seemed angry that my wife wanted to make a cup of tea upon our arrival in the evening. The general tone of the facility was one of all the things that we were not to do. Hardly welcoming. While we are not inclined to give up on Quality Inn properties, we will spend more time studying the reviews in the future. Beware!

South Portland, Maine: The room (101) was old and beat up. The AC unit, sink faucet, bathtub (had no water plug), walls, and flooring all needed work. This room was in no way worth $200 per night, and belies the name "Quality." Interestingly, I stayed in another Quality Inn by the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque a few days later, and by contrast, that was a beautiful room and great overall experience.

The staff was fantastic. The bed was comfortable. The room and common areas were well cleaned. The bathroom was clean with the exception of the shower. The tub faucet had plenty of pressure but when the shower was turned on it diminished significantly. There were parts of the shower that appeared to need a deep deep cleaning or replacement.

Pet friendly for a small fee per dog (depending on size). Room was not well maintained (needed some fixing) and the floors in the room were dirty. The beds were clean and comfortable and the shower worked. The breakfast was better than expected and had scrambled eggs and sausage. The bagels were stale tho.

There are much better options

The room was run down and minimally cleaned. I made the mistake of looking underneath the armoire for the TV remote and saw a sea of dust and multiple dead cockroaches. The mattress and bedding were comfortable enough, but overall it was a below-par experience. The staff was ok, but the hotel is very stingy when it comes to providing basic things like towels and toilet paper. They seemed to ration toilet paper like we were staying on a deserted island. There was literally 1/2 of a used roll in the room when we arrived. We had to repeatedly ask for additional rolls.

Ive stayed here before with no issues. Last night's my company sent me an expense check to pay for the room. This took several hours to clear. Around 6 when it cleared my phone died so i plugged it in. The male manager came out screaming to get off his property or he was calling the police. Because he assumed i wasnt a small business owner that USED to book 300+ stay a night at quality inns. We terminated that contract today. Avoid this location unless your into police involvement and some crazy man cursing at you in a foreign language. Creepy he also said hed been watching me alll day so shut your blinds
