The pillows were super uncomfortable. Like they did not have any life left in them. Additionally, valet brought our car back with a totally flat tire (drove it on the rim with the warning lights on in the car). The tire had a 4 inch nail in it. Then the hotel proceeds to charge us for the valet service while we are calling a tow truck and left paying for a brand new tire. What we were charged for the stay did not match what was listed on the pay at the hotel rate either.

The room size was great. Staff was friendly. But the hotel room was not very clean. With stains on the couch, curtains, and carpet, smudges throughout, and just grimey. Valet parking was not to be found when we arrived, we parked out front, paid for valet, to be told the car wojld stay out on the street all night. We were given our keys to leave in the morning. This was self parking, not valet, and misleading. There was a huge water stain in the corner of the bedroom. And there was construction in the room next door, including loud hammering and music, during the morning.

On the Historic Registry of Hotels. It is the kind of place we choose to stay. Quiet. Nice thick walls. Don’t be put off by the small elevator or aged halls. The room was lovely. Updated. Clean. Comfortable QUIET. Staff is first rate and the restaurant served the best salads. All portions large and prices quite low Staff are friendly and helpful. We had three crazy “grandkid sports days”. This was our sane retreat. Directly across from the Capitol building…a piece of the age of elegance
