This hotel has a beautiful location adjacent to the Capitol grounds which we very much enjoyed exploring. The restaurant on the main floor had a magnificent high ceiling and one of the staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There were however a number of things that were disappointing. The first night our shower did not drain properly, so we were given a different room. In that room the toilet consistently had trouble flushing, the safe would not work/turn on, and eventually that shower also would not drain either. The hotel ran out of Keurig regular coffee (we were restocked with decaf options), and simultaneously we were told the drip coffee maker was not working in the restaurant. We had to buy coffee at a nearby convenience store. When we went to use the lobby bathrooms, we found they also had the unfortunate flushing problems. And whenever we entered the lobby we were not greeted by the staff at the front desk although we were frequently the only ones around.

The room was clean and nice. The hotel staff was great. However, I would not recommend you use valet parking. I had an issue when it came to retrieve my car. They had a hard time starting it, because the wheel was locked. Instead of turning it off completely to let me know, they left the car in accessory mode basically causing my battery to drain. I just went and started it myself after a few tries and it struggled because the battery was draining. The valet staff need better training and learn better car care.

The room was perfect. Food in the restaurant was not good at all and very expensive. Parking situation not good and valet is expensive. Housekeeping knocked at 930 am which i found inappropriate.

The water in the shower and lavatory was only warm. Several lightbulbs in the bedroom and bathroom were burned out. The toilet runs until the top of the tank is removed and the mechanism jiggled. I told the person at the front desk, but they were not fixed. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and would stay again, but these issues were annoying -- especially lack of a hot shower.

Unique property in the heart of Richmond. The building is dated. The elevators barely fit me and my two teens in it. The suite was nice. I had spots on my comforter and the other bed had what looked like a washed receipt all bunched up on it. The staff was nice and accommodating.

The first thing one sees arriving to the hotel is how filthy is the lobby. Specially the sofas. They are filled with stains. Looks like they were picked from a garbage dump. The floors of the lobby and our floor (4th) were discussing. Dirt marks everywhere. As per the bedroom, out of a half empty hotel, the receptionist had no better room but to place us facing inward directly to the cooling tower and the main plumbing. Having the most important landmark right in front of the hotel, feels insulting that we were given this room. At last the staff behaved and acted as if they were at home. Hanging in the lobby on their phones and not paying attention to serving the guest. Really and overall disappointment.

Didn’t have breakfast there. But had 2 drinks and 2 desserts at their restaurant and paid $60, it’s a little bit pricey for just that. Also, there is a stain in the mattress cover so i think they don’t inspect that and wash it often.
