Sunset Motel – St. Ignace, Michigan
This is my second time staying at the Sunset Motel, and it has quickly earned a special place on my favorites list. It’s an older, classic roadside motel, but what it lacks in modern flash, it more than makes up for in warmth, charm, and character.
The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with beautiful tongue-and-groove wood floors, walls, and ceilings that give the entire place a rustic, cabin-like feel. I absolutely adore this style—it feels like stepping back into a simpler, cozier time. Everything is well cared for, and the rooms are clean and welcoming.
The grounds are absolutely lovely, with giant hanging flower baskets overflowing with color. There’s a sense of pride in the way everything is maintained—it feels personal, not corporate. The owners are some of the kindest and most helpful people you’ll meet. They truly care about their guests, and it shows in the little touches and friendly conversations.
If you’re looking for a five-star luxury resort with gold faucets, room service, and a butler, this is not your place. But if you love rustic charm, comfy vibes, and genuine hospitality, you’ll be right at home here. It’s the perfect cozy spot to unwind after a day of exploring the beauty of St. Ignace and the surrounding area.
