We showed up at the hotel and the doors were chained shut with notices “DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE TO OCCUPY” We had to quickly find alternative accommodations for four of our family. I took pictures of these notices

The Shilo is an icon at Ocean Shores and we have stayed there recently knowing it is older and needing updates. The ocean front rooms are epic and it’s worth it for us to stay there to get this view. The staff are very welcoming and available. They also allow pets which is convenient when we bring our dog. Will stay again.

The property in general needs some work. Landscaping and a good pressure wash and /or paint job. The whole place has been neglected for some time. Some thing was dribbled on the floorall through the lobby when I checked in. It was still there when I checked out.

When you walk In you are greeted with friendly staff and it’s not stressful , room was beautiful , and large and the sea view is amazing . Plus the place is beautiful . The decor , the fish and you can tell the place is really loved by the staff and being taken care of . Have gone there quite a few times and never a bad experience . We will be back

The view was amazing, the kids loved the pool, pet friendly, staff was very helpful and nice. You can clearly tell they have fell on some hard times but the staff tries very hard to be as accommodating and hospitable as possible which means more to me than it being outdated and a few amenities being down.
