The hotel seems old and rundown. The workers were not helpful and seem to be miserable working there. The breakfast was poor selection. The rooms did not cool sufficiently, as well as there was mold smell in the entire hotel.

Most of the time ice machines didn’t work. Microwaves were community in the hall next to those faulty ice machines. No phones in the room to ring up the desk who didn’t answer much of the time anyway. Breakfast was a joke. No eggs, muffins, English muffins or danishes. They had bagels but no cream cheese for them. Also noisy. If not people in the halls it was blared Latin music in the parking lot. They did address that when I brought it to their attention. All in all if I had to find a room in Birmingham I’d find another place.

It is apparent that this was once a really nice hotel, but recently management has not attended to its needs to keep it well maintained. Paint around the elevators is chipped, the carpeting is worn, and the place in general feels on the verge of being run down. There was an odd smell in the lobby, a different odor in the elevator, and then strong fumes of cleansers inside the room itself, though at least that's an indication that it was recently cleaned. Some of the towels and washcloths had yellow and red stains on them. Two of the walls in my room had hooks where there used to be pictures that had been taken down and never replaced. The dining area where the continental breakfast was served was nice, but the breakfast itself was lacking. Both days I stayed at the hotel, there were no eggs but there were sausage links and grits. They had a cereal dispenser, but instead of individual milk cartons, the small fridge had a pitcher of milk—I wasn't going to drink from it because who knows whose what may have been in it. The dispenser labeled Florida Choice Orange Juice instead had some nasty sugary orange drink. On my second day, the woman who worked there asked me for a ticket as I was getting my food. I told her I was not given any ticket, nor was I told I needed a ticket for breakfast. She said I had to have one. Meanwhile, two different people I saw working the front desk were indifferent and bored. This wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed at, but it wasn't great.

The only good thing was the price, but you get what you pay for. Ice machine on my floor (2) didn't work. I went down to the first floor and that machine didn't work either and was leaking. The carpet was squishing under my feet. Wi fi didn't work in my room. The pool which looked fine had a sign that said open from 10am-7pm was "Not working" according to the front desk. Building was in horrible condition. Obvious neglect over time. I could keep going. Ramada used to be a great brand. They need to keep a closer eye on hotels baring their name.

I got in to BHM at midnight after traveling all day and chose the hotel based on proximity to the airport and advertised 24/7 shuttle. After waiting for the shuttle for 30 minutes I continued to call, over and over. Finally decided to Uber. Upon checkin, staff was rude, laughed when I asked if they sold water, said soda only in vending machines (cash only). Figured I’d melt some ice to quench midnight thirst but…. You guessed it, the ice machines don’t work either. There were obvious body marks on the sheets where one’s pelvic section would lay on the bed. Too tired to cause a stink or find another room, I used the coffee pot to boil water and used pillows to block a small section on white to sleep on. I took photos of the nasty sheets and bugs in the room. I’m writing now, 24 hours after checkout with a compress on my eye enjoying my first ever…STYE
