The hotel was great. Dining options were ok and bars outside were very nice. Only had two issues…a leaking shower and getting out of the parking garage. The room key never worked for the garage. Other than those two items I highly recommend this hotel.

Don’t think we will be returning here.

Check-in was easy but once we got to our floor, we noticed maintenance was in the room next to ours (further down the hallway). Upon entering our room, we noticed that there was a smell coming from the bathroom and the sink was backed up with black residue all on the bottom of the bowl. The toilet also flushed so hard that water burst over the seat and onto the floor. My husband had to go back to the front desk to ask to move us. Our new room was fine, and clean, but I feel like management should be communicating to the front desk about issues they’re having. I also feel like if your hotel has parking, it should be included in your room rate. As far as this hotel goes, I think we can find better accommodations in the city and surrounding areas.

A male at reception called Richard is a racist. He doesn't deserve any more time from me to type here, but you would know why I'm here if you talked with him. I already reported him and I won't be in Sonesta again before I heard any news on him being laid off or died. Sonesta, you lost a loyal customer just because of him.

PROS: It was a nice hotel, clean, and with a beautiful view. Staff was all very kind and professional. Pool was great. hotel restaurant has a great menu and value. CONS: parking was expensive, room although upgraded was not worth the upgrade price at all. No clear water view from the 3ed floor despite paying for the upgrade.

Love This Hotel

We were very pleasantly surprised with the friendly service, the beautiful lobby, and the very gorgeous panoramic view in our room. We were greeted with enthusiasm and kindness when we arrived, and the employees in the hotel lobby were super friendly. The ladies who worked in the Starbucks were absolutely lovely. Overall our stay exceeded expectations. The bed and room were very comfortable. The only things that could have been better were: The outlet by the coffee maker was inaccessible and the alternate outlet did not work. The hostess at the ArtBar was very rude. We asked to sit outside and she said "There's nothing outside" when there clearly were empty tables outside. We asked if we could wait for a table and she rolled her eyes and said yes. We were standing waiting for a table and she told us to "go sit down (in the lobby) because it's going to be a while." Super rude. Thankfully another woman who appeared to be managing things came out and led us straight to a table outside which she cleaned off herself.

The bad: we booked a room with 2 beds but they assigned us a king. Sink clogged and drained out the bottom pipes and flooded the floor. After waiting 30 min for repair/clean up went to front desk to expedite or change rooms. Front desk guy very dismissive, called maintenance once and told me no available rooms After waiting 30 more minutes I flagged down a manager who finally got the maintenance person in the room,who took a look and said he couldn't fix it. After an hour of wasted time another room was miraculously found and we moved. Terrible customer service and they were dishonest about the availability of a room to switch to. This was at around midnight so we were tired and cranky and just wanted a working, clean room. Good: Can't say enough about how helpful and pleasant Christina at the front desk was when we checked in, and also she was ultimately the employee who solved the issue and found us a room. The other guy was rude and not helpful.

Food is average but expensive, the places nearby have much better quality for the same price. Bed is good but our suite room was outdated with noisy AC system. Our son arrived late night and person from front desk forced me to wake up and go downstairs to confirm that he was my son and it was 2.30 am…ridiculous…. Overall the hotel needs to be upgraded! Location is excellent and they have to take advantage of it.

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta in late June during a family trip with our son. Overall, it was a great stay, with a few minor bumps along the way. When we arrived, they were in the process of updating all the sofa beds in the hotel, so our junior suite wasn’t ready at check-in. The staff offered us a panoramic view room to use temporarily or for the full stay. While the view was stunning, the room was too small for us and had some noticeable wear and tear. Thankfully, we were able to switch into our original room just a few hours later—and it was spacious, clean, and had a brand-new sofa bed still wrapped in plastic. The front desk clerk reduced our parking rate to $10/night (normally $40), which was a nice gesture considering the inconvenience. The sleep quality was excellent—comfortable beds and no noise issues. Parking was easy and secure, with direct access into the hotel via a keycard-protected entrance. The lobby had a Starbucks, a casual dining area, and a bar, though we didn’t try the main restaurant. The location was also great—walking distance to the Science Museum, big plus. We did have one small issue where a pizza delivery was left unattended in the lobby, which made us wonder if the front desk was unstaffed at the time. Not a huge deal, but something to note. All in all, I’d recommend Royal Sonesta for a special occasion or splurge—it’s probably a bit pricey for a regular stay, but the amenities, comfort, and location make it worth considering.

The facility was very comfortable. Staff, from front desk to valet to the sweet maintenance lady and the delightful ArtBar staff were sll so nice, knowledgable and happy to help and answer any questions. Would definitely stay there again!
