Came for a Labor Weekend Trip to go to the Horsethief Great American Kite Festival. The city has a scent in the area from the cattle feedlots/beef packing plants. There's cultural character. Area +investment needed to be more vibrant and to maintain cleaniness. The Holiday Inn is within walking distance to restaurants, a park, and attractions. The nearby zoo is closed. We booked through Expedia. Hotel charges a $25 holding fee for the TV remote. You're not able to change from a queen (2nd floor and above get an even #) to a king room (1st Floor and may face more greenery/park). Our window (odd # rm) faced the more commercial/bldg side a little noisy at arrival from nearby waterpark music noise? By nightfall relatively quiet. Carpet is sticky so we kept our slippers on. A few wall areas where paint/construction was worn/cracked. A floor board was loose at bathroom entrance and floor was warped near there. Bathroom tub area could have been cleaner. Sheets/pillows had a couple tiny black debris. For dinner, we had take out from the Cowboy Capital Saloon and Grill. The Capstone Blue was too salty/overly burnt crisp, but the corn was tasty while the the works baked potato could have used sour cream. Kiddo had the kid's cheeseburger and giggled at the happy fry faces. Hotel Breakfast: had omelets, but no bacon/scrambled eggs:( For more fresh air, would've considered going further N-Best Western Northern Edge/Hampton Inn, an airBnB, or Horsethief cabin/yurts-book a couple days+ before.
