The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the bar, kitchen & wait staff were accommodating on our late arrival, 8 pm. The restaurant staff were friendly and the restaurants bar menu, albeit limited, was creative, well prepared and fresh. The only bummer, the hotel staff left the curtains to our double queen oceanview open all afternoon, so when we arrived at 8 pm, on a sunny day, the beautiful panoramic view made the room a hot house. The room has no air conditioning and there was only a small fan and little options for fresh air, given only one functioning window Oceanside and one small bathroom window. The hotel should invest in small air conditioning and heating splits for each room to avoid such unpleasant hot rooms. The room finally cooled down enough to sleep at 10-11 pm.

No A/C but you can open screened in windows and that worked fine; no locks between adjoining rooms, which wasn’t exciting (they put a chair in front to barricade), and the restaurant was fine.

The deluxe king room is very nice, but it is up on a hill away from the beach with only a partial view of the ocean. If you are interested in using the restaurant or bar lounge, you should opt for a different room.

Great location, nice amenities and rooms. Beautiful grounds. Experienced some road noise and my room didn't quite pass muster for "rainforest view" considering it was overlooking the road, but it still was a pretty scene and overall nice vibe. Would stay again but would choose the ocean view option.

The room was fantastic we really loved it. It's right on the ocean next to the pancake rocks. We both agree that if we ever get back to New Zealand we would like to stay here for a few days if possible. It was just a stopover for us but very memorable, we watched the sunset over the ocean. Just a really nice place. Thumbs up.

The rooms are quite dated, though we appreciated the views, those in the restaurant below could see directly into our room. The biggest issue we faced was with the parking; we had a designated space outside our room but the hotel allowed a mini bus and trailer to park in the nearby spaces for cars, blocking us in. We wanted to leave early but had to wait for the other guests to leave, despite asking staff. They should ensure any vehicles bigger than a car parks in the main car park. The room was also quite dirty in places and the light fittings haven’t been cleaned in a while plus the decorative cushions had stains on them. The hotel is situated close to the pancake rocks but is on the busy main road, so large HGV’s passing in the night are likely to keep you awake. Despite this, it’s a decent place to stop when passing through the west coast.

Fantastic property! Staff were excellent and the scenery was unbeatable. Lounge area was great with a nice bar with solid beer, wine, and cocktail selection and an incredible view. On-site dining at the Oceanview was top notch.
