The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This was a great place for us to stay as a home base as we visited Monterey and the surronding area. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

El Castell was centrally located and perfectly priced. However, it was extremely loud at night. It might have been the particular guests staying in the hotel, or the surrounding area, but the hotel is older with minimal sound buffers.

Interior is far superior than a two star motel. It is better than some of the three star hotels. One complaint, we had paper bags on the floor that we wanted to use but the room service took it.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very clean and quiet. We didn't realize a continental breakfast was included, so unfortunately we didn't get to try it. But we will be back in the future.
