We stayed in a suite in the historic part of the property. The room was clean and inviting. The furniture, art and fixtures are mostly antiques and fit the history of the building. The gardens are beautiful. The bed was not super comfortable, but acceptable. We passed on the breakfast as there are so many yummy options within walking distance. The outdoor ice maker was broken, so we had to get ice from the front desk, which closes pretty early in the evening. The fireplace is charming, but I had to complain in order to get more than one log per night.

Nice but I love a good Breakfast

Room was beautiful and comfortable. It was decorated nicely. The room had a fireplace and the hotel provided a Presto log Our room had a Nautical Theme. There was a beautiful courtyard each room on our floor had a small patio. The shower was very nice for a tall person So the remodeling job added nice update. The inly drawback for me was the quality of yhe Continental breakfast was lacking. We expected more high end pastries and breads or muffins. They only had vanilla yogurt, the bananas were over ripe and there were no juice options only Coffee, Tea and Milk. The milk was for the cereal so wasn't meant to be a breakfast beverage.

This was an amazing property! Taking the recreational trail will take you from Fishermans Warf to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with Cannery Row in-between! Very walkable all around Monterey. Great food all a round. The room we were in had a king bed, upstairs, with a fireplace. We had 3 rooms in a row, all were very comfortable, quaint, smelled good. All 3 beds were great. They give you a complimentary fire log to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Highly recommend the Merritt House Hotel! We will definitely be back!

Very nice smaller hotel very convenient to the main restaurant street ( Alvarado). Nice clean room with lovely courtyard. TV had option to be able to stream programs such as Netflix from your device like an iPhone. Only complaint is there were no towel racks. Also the bed was a high old 4 poster and my wife couldn’t climb into it until we asked for a small step stool.
