Absolutely terrible from start to finish. Upon check in the front desk employee told us he would “get us a room on the better side of the hotel if we tipped him” so we did and he put us in a room on a third floor walk up that had no working AC and roaches. We went to complain at the front desk and were given a room key for a new room on the other side of the hotel upon entering the new room it was filthy garbage all over the floor the AC was working however. Back to the front desk we went, this time the girl at the front desk walked us to two separate new rooms one that was also fairly dirty and the last that we ended up keeping was acceptable. This room had the AC on over drive so now I found myself with the opposite problem… i needed a blanket. Call the front desk from the phone in the room no answer. call a dozen times, no answer. Back down stairs I go, I asked for a blanket. “No problem we’ll send it right up” Hours go by and no blanket I tried calling about 2 dozen more times NO ONE answered the service desk phone ever. So I went back downstairs to ask for a blanket AGAIN. They said they would send it right up, again I never got it. I slept that night in sweat pants, a sweatshirt and socks It was so cold in that room. Not to mention the beds are hard as a rock and so uncomfortable. The next day I was able to catch a woman from room service in the hallway who so graciously brought me one right away. The food at this resort is completely inedible

Our room had no ac the whole time, we called multiple times for someone to come fix, no one ever came. No hot water for showering. Food was a 5/10. Steakhouse 7/10. Elevators not working. Only good thing was the staff was friendly and drinks 10/10.

Not the best "all inclusive" stay Ive had. They do not treat English speaking people well. The service needs improving for sure. Room had bugs the bit me all night. Most of the restaurants were buffet style that had mediocre food at best. The hall ways smell of raw sewage and stains on the bed sheets. Definitely a "party" resort with little care for its clients. No bar on the beach either... which is rough when you pay for an all inclusive beach experience. The pools... nasty. The one to the right as you approached the beach was murky and clearly not filtering at all. Tldr Snobby non english service, bad food, and dirty.

Our overall assessment of this property is that it is over rated. Facilities are old, air conditioning in the rooms is awful, bathrooms smell like stagnant water, hot water is deficient, there is an extreme lack of security, people having sex in the swimming pools without security intervening, food was disgusting, entertainment was not entertaining and it was boring, and alcoholic beverages were substandard. We were relocated to another room after several complaints and hours of going back and forth with the front desk personnel to help us find a decent room. Communicating with the front desk was an adventure and very challenging. We were a group of 18 people looking forward to have a fun weekend and ended up disappointed. We will definitely not recommend this hotel.

Disappointed First-Time Stay at Riu Republica This was my first time staying at a RIU property—and unfortunately, it will also be my last. The overall experience at Riu Republica fell far below expectations. The rooms are extremely outdated, easily over a decade behind in design and upkeep. One of the biggest issues was the smell of sewage in the hallways and even in some of the rooms. I had to request a room change because of the overwhelming odor, which they attempted to mask with an excessive amount of bleach—making it even worse. The cleanliness left much to be desired. The sheets looked worn out, as if they hadn’t been replaced in years, and it honestly felt like a game of “Guess the Stain.” I’ll definitely be traveling with my own bedding from now on. The food was mediocre at best, and the entertainment was minimal. Despite the hype, the famous pool parties were underwhelming—I’d rate them a 3/10. The casino was also a huge letdown; it’s about the size of a two-bedroom apartment and didn’t offer much of an experience (2/10). The only highlight was spending time with my girlfriends on a quick getaway, but this resort was not up to par. The staff didn’t feel particularly welcoming—except for the team at the pool area, who were friendly and helpful. Overall, I can’t recommend this resort and won’t be returning.

The entertainment was absolutely amazing 10/10 Food 2/10 jerk chicken was okay and the Japanese restaurant was good. Rooms were outdated and the water smelled like sewage, the pipes were rusty and dirty. The drain was black as well as the shower head. The minibar was not stocked. The restaurant had flies, we had a sever used her hand to pick up dead flies from the table then used those very hands to set our utensils. The iron had rust coming from it that damaged our clothes. We were late for dinner because of that and basically couldn't get a table, we had to go to the front desk, when we did get a table there was really nothing to eat.
