Great Beds

I was a little let down as I checked in because there was nobreakfast of coffee for guests. It was all costly. The hotel seemed kind of dirty and rooms were basic, but the beds were very comfortable for sleep and rest.

This hotel wants to be on the higher end of hotels however so much about the rooms and amenities they offer make it impossible. They force valet parking at $40 per night. They tried charging me for using stuff from bar so had to dispute. They are greedy and only care about their bottom line and not their customers.

The hotel is located close to the Riverwalk and to all the shops and restaurants. It's very easy to walk around and see the sights. Rooms were comfortable. We did not like that the thermostat couldn't go under 68 degrees. The room did get stuffy and warm until we opened the window.

The location is amazing. It is a very easy walk to the Riverwalk and La Villita. It is also across the street from the historic courthouse. However, it is very clearly an older hotel and shows its age with a tired look. There’s astroturf around the pool. And, our bed was rock hard and you could run your hand across it and feel every spring. The service at the front desk and the valet was very good. The waitress at The Gavel restaurant was friendly and hardworking, but they were obviously understaffed. She appeared to be the only waitress even though their were 3 people working just across the way at their coffee bar. I would recommend the hotel for its location and reasonable price, but I don’t believe that it deserves its 4⭐️ rating. The rooms are clean and we loved the retro look mini fridge, but the closet, dressing mirror, bathroom area is really tight.

The staff was outstanding especially joie, veronica and brenda! Food at the gavel is outstanding! Beds are hard as a rock, bathroom vanity was crumbling. Toilet is child sized. Tub could use some traction, almist fell a couple times

Property cleanliness was not up to par. Ceiling tile fall and water was leaking in the room. Sofa had stains on it. Property just seems old and unkept. Our room was a suite and we were down graded to a smaller room due to the ceiling leaking. No one on the property could compensate us for our troubles and still waiting on a general manager to contact me about grievances.
