I cannot believe the experience we had at Hotel G. What should have been a simple and enjoyable one night stay in San Francisco turned into one of the most uncomfortable and upsetting hotel visits I have ever had. The front desk clerk’s behavior was completely unacceptable. We had a close friend who works very late and since we rarely get to see him we hoped he could come up to our room briefly so we could catch up for a few minutes. We were not trying to cause any disruption. We went down to meet him and politely asked if an exception could be made for him to join us. Instead of explaining the policy in a respectful way the clerk became aggressive angry and actually yelled at us. We did not push or demand anything. We simply asked a question. The hostility he showed us was shocking and left us shaken. To make matters worse as a gay couple traveling in San Francisco of all places the entire interaction felt not only rude but homophobic. It was as if the moment we made our request the tone shifted into something far more personal and discriminatory.
Unfortunately the rest of the stay was equally disappointing. I had to wait nearly thirty minutes and call the front desk twice just to receive towels. The room’s cement floor had sticky residue that clung to my socks which showed a clear lack of cleanliness.
Between the rude and hostile treatment the failure to provide basic service the lack of cleanliness and the poorly designed shower I cannot recommend Hotel G to anyone.
