I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was a stain on my UCSB Dad visit. From the start, it felt like the property wasn’t being maintained. Their computers were down at check-in on Friday, which delayed arrival. That night, the elevator malfunctioned, and I got stuck inside. There was even a handwritten sign taped in the elevator telling guests to “wiggle the door” to make it shut. In the room, the blackout shade was broken, so the pool light shone into the window all night. The next day, the room wasn’t cleaned. Staff said housekeeping is every other day, but there’s a sign in the bathroom that says rooms are cleaned daily, so that was frustrating. It came to a head after several trips up and down the stairs, hauling gear with my son. The elevator was broken and stayed broken, so we had to take the stairs repeatedly to a room far from the lobby. Then my key card deactivated for no reason, and I had to go back down again to get it replaced. That was the breaking point. Given everything, I asked to end the stay early and cancel the second night, but the staff refused to work with me. I expected basic safety, cleanliness, and a functional property. I won’t return.

The elevator was not working and we were on the 2 nd floor, so as senior citizens with a mobility issue, not good. We were pleased with check in when the computer was down, they worked hard to get us in a room and accommodated, without complaining. But the elevator was a disaster
