We absolutely loved our stay at Thunderbird! The staff was kind and friendly, the retro style of the place was creative (and we loved our RC Colas and moonpies) and very reasonably priced to be so close to downtown and being pet friendly! Our dogs LOVED the thunderbird dog biscuits!

Had a great time at this Hotel. The retro style and the way everyone went out of there way to make sure our stay was spectacular was amazing. The only drawback I had was the closeness to Oglethorpe. It is a busy highway and was very noisy until about 10 pm with traffic. (My wife and I go to bed early). Don’t let this deter you from an amazing experience. They are walking distance to the historic area of Savanah as well as the Cementary, the Cathedral, the Floral Gardens and many assorted museums. My wife and I enjoy the museum of The Georgia Railway. We also enjoyed a paddle boat on the river, several dining choices all without driving the car. It’s an A1 experience that I would recommend to all.

The only reason to like this motel is that it's cheap. I would bet it's the cheapest in Savannah. Way too much to not like. First off, the lady I encountered when I got there obviously hates her job or the night shift she works because her attitude was atrocious. If I could have cancelled the stay right then I would have. Then the road noise is out of control. Keep in mind, this motel is like one of those little cheap beach front motels with cinder block walls. And being on a busy street headed downtown makes it worse. The only way to get sleep for us was to use ear plugs. Then probably the biggest negative was that the small a/c unit in the room mounted on the wall above the sink. It started spitting out these black chunks of something. It got progressively worse as the week went on. To where when we left the black stuff nearly covered the counter where the sink was. The parking is $20/day there and very limited and it seems they don't have enough for the rooms they book. The only other options are parking on the busy street or in the parking deck behind which is crazy expensive. Just an 8hr park was almost $45. The water pressure in the shower is weak and I can imagine if you had a lot of hair would take a good while to rinse out. There was some nice people working there but I would never stay there again nor would I recommend this motel to anyone I knew.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. Room was very humid and our AC/heat didn’t work. The room needed some TLC (cracked shower tile, water leaking in from front window) but was otherwise fine. Street noise is quite loud. I didn’t realize you have to pay to park onsite until I received an email about it 2 days before we arrived. Luckily we got parking. It’s nothing fancy but it worked for our needs. And the donuts are delicious :-)

Cool retro place but could use some TLC

Very cool retro place in excellent location for enjoying downtown Savannah. We were attracted by the pet friendly designation, but between the $50 pet fee and a $20 parking fee, the rate became quite expensive for a basic old fashioned motel that’s been dressed up with bright paint and piped in rock and roll music. Some maintenance issues. Floor lamp and in room coffee maker didn’t work. Morning donuts and coffee were excellent. They need to repair their iconic neon sign. It was mostly dark the night we stayed. We tried to rebook a night for our return stopover 2 weeks out, but they wanted to jack the rate by more than $100. $300+ just too much for the quality of stay.

Love the Hippie Vibe!

Such a fun and cheerful place, love the retro hippie vibe. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The lobby is a fun place with fresh popcorn, donuts, coffee fresh lemonade and juice. There are fun souvenirs for purchase as well. One of our favorite things was the dog treat and dog tag special for our pup. It’s in a nice location close to everything and easy to navigate to and from. There is a lot of street traffic so if that’s something you’re not used to it may be bothersome but that’s to be expected considering it’s right off the street.
