Volcano Hale Mauka welcomes you to a lovely private cottage nestled in the middle of the rainforest! Our house is very clean and well appointed. Hale Mauka offers you a place to come home and relax after a long day out exploring and playing.

Rates are for up to 4 guests. Do not exceed occupancy of 4.

SOAK in our 110 gallon tub for TWO with private rain forest views! Our tub is so insulated that it stays warm for hours! Who needs Jacuzzi or Spa? ..

Our two bedrooms are each appointed with comfortable beds. A California King Tempur-Pedic mattress in one bedroom and a queen size pillow top mattress in the other.

Enjoy that morning Kona coffee or glass of wine in the evening on the Lanai outside while enjoying the sounds and magic of the rainforest.. You won't see anything but huge fern trees and many birds and our local Kalij Pheasants when you sit on our Lanai!

We have an amazing fireplace to take the chill from the house on those chilly rainforest evenings, and we supply a starter amount of firewood. Enjoy the Smart TV that you can watch your favorite Netflix, Prime etc. movies. We also have a few DVD movies to choose from if you just want to just chill at home. Three sky tubes in our ceiling offer moonlight or sunlight into the kitchen and living room for ambient lighting.

The Village and National Park are less than 3 miles away. You can also explore our artist community and dine at some ono (tasty) restaurants here in Volcano. Our kitchen here at Hale Mauka is perfectly set up with everything you will need to make that meal at home or use the outdoor gas grill. Our dining room that is almost completely glass with views of the beautiful rainforest!

We had a wonderful stay at Hale Mauka and would absolutely recommend it to others. The property is surrounded by beautiful, lush greenery and truly feels like a tucked-away oasis in the rainforest. It’s quiet, with only the sounds of birds and rain—exactly what we were hoping for in a peaceful getaway.The home itself is very clean, with spacious rooms and a large, comfortable bathroom that made it easy to relax and settle in. The location is also a big plus. It’s perfectly located for visiting Volcanoes National Park, and although we weren’t able to go due to the recent storm, it wasn’t too far from Hilo. We were still able to enjoy great places to eat, shop, and explore, including some absolutely beautiful botanical gardens.During our stay, a powerful Kona storm caused the electricity to go out for most of the visit. We still had a great time, though, because of the comfort of the home and the beauty surrounding us. We were very grateful the property had a grill, which allowed us to prepare breakfast and dinner. The kitchen is also well-equipped.One thing that really stood out was the excellent communication from the host. They responded quickly to our questions, which we especially appreciated given the unusual conditions during the storm.Overall, this was a memorable and comfortable place to stay. We would definitely come back again ourselves.

The house is very clean, comfortable, and perfectly located just a few minutes from the entrance of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. It felt like a true backcountry basecamp for exploring the caldera and the Thurston Lava Tube.

If we could, we'd give 6, or 7, or 10 stars to this beautiful secluded home. Perhaps the nicest, cleanest, most well-appointed property we've ever rented. Kitchen offers every appliance and accessory a visitor might need plus matched sets of silverware, plates, glasses mugs, napkins and towels. High-end bathroom fixtures. A lovely screened porch with table and chairs for meals. Host provides a detailed and comprehensive information binder and is easily reached by text message. Unwavering attention to detail by the host.

The house was lovely. The setting nestled in the tropical foliage was magical. The property had everything we needed, except an iron. The location is ideal, not far from the Volcano National Park. We would definitely stay again.

This was one of our favorite vacation rentals! The description and photos were spot on. The communication was quick and straightforward, and the instructions in the welcome email were very helpful. We thought the kitchen was well stocked, and the location near Volcano National Park was great, less than 10 minutes away. The furniture, bed and bathroom were much nicer than many places we have stayed. Even really nice towels! We did a day trip into Hilo and beyond, and that was also very doable. Overall, we'd stay here again if we ever came back to this area!! Thank you!

It was perfect! The home is in a neighborhood but you feel like you are all by yourself in the rainforest. It was minutes from Volcanoes National Park and not far from Hilo. The home was clean and comfortable. I especially loved the garden tub!

Thank you for letting us stay at this lovely property. Hale Mauka was clean and immaculate, and it has everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay. At night only sounds we heard were songs of coqui frogs, and pheasants came passing the yard in front of the house in the morning. The message sent by the Saltwater, which is in charge of the property maintenance, was clear and easy to understand. We would recommend the property to friends and will definitely come back in the future.

The house and grounds are spectacular! The pictures do not do it justice. The home is stunning with two large bedrooms, a huge bathroom and side bath, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful living room, the indoor/outdoor dining area is perfect and I can’t say enough about the huge porch.

Beautiful home in a tranquil and convenient location

Property management was very communicative prior to our stay to make sure we had contact info in case if there were any maintenance needs. The house was very clean when we arrived and everything was in good working order. We loved the decor, layout and location of the property. We had an amazing time enjoying our coffee on the porch in the middle of nature hearing the sounds of birds and no cars or traffic. We were minutes from the National Park entrance and were able to just go for dinner at the Volcano Inn. Both beds were super comfortable and we made great use of the kitchen/family room/living room ares. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to stay near the national park.

Amazing Stay

Comfortable and quiet

We enjoyed our stay at your well appointed home. It is ideally situated for dinner at some nice redoing Volcano Village and of course easy access to volcano national park. Make sure to dine at the Rim restaurant in the park, the view alone makes the trip worthwhile, and the food for breakfast was fairly priced and delicious

Gorgeous Jungle Retreat

My entire family loved staying at this house, with its wide porches and gorgeous decor, nestled in the jungle. At night, we could hear the sounds of the jungle, snug and cozy inside the home. Volcano was much colder than we realized, and the wood stove came in handy. The porch allowed us to enjoy the view protected from the area’s intermittent fine mist. It was truly lovely.

Nestled in Volcano

Exactly as described. Very quiet (except for the coqui, neighborhood dogs when bothered by feral pigs, and the roosters at dawn). All quite pleasant for the setting and highly recommend! The location is perfect for exploring HI Volcanoes National Park and not a bad day trip for visiting Hilo proper or more Southern parts of the island. On the occasional rainy day, there were plenty of things to do inside--play games, cards, stream movies, or play DVDs. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances needed to cook, and clean up was easy with the dishwasher. The washer and dryer was super convenient. The porch was a nice place to sit in the morning. Mahalo.
