The Buxton was a great hotel to stay at! We were there for a wedding and the whole wedding was staying there which made it so fun. We had a great balcony that overlooked the courtyard. There was a fun gameroom as well. Overall, I would absolutely stay there again. It was great!

We absolutely loved this place and plan to stay again. We had a long drive the next day, so getting a good night sleep was important. We received fabulous recommendation of where to eat dinner and enjoying walking around the town.

Great place to stay for out of town guests and wedding party. Had our rehearsal dinner Friday night and it was great everyone could hang in courtyard after and then go to room. In town so walkable to ice cream, meals and drug store. Rooms unique and clean. Highly recommend. Not your “normal” hotel. A must try.

I failed to review carefully the information about access for people with disabilities (I use a walker). The Inn is grandfathered from complying with ADA requirements. Nevertheless, the staff was very accomodating, helping me in and out of the three step, no railing room to which I was assigned

Excellent, but remember it is older and historic

Comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and shower. We enjoyed our stay at Buxton. Easy walking to all of the interesting restaurants and stores on the main street and to Dennison. You need to understand that this is a historic facility. If you are on the 2nd floor, no elevator. They could also make it easier to find an open plug for CPAP and recharging your phone. The included breakfast fell a little flat. Overall, however, I am very happy to recommend this inn.

Didn't live up to our expectations

Plumbing: Twice we had no running water and during the night we were disturbed a number of times by strange noises from the plumbing. Electric: The light switch next to the room entrance door was warm to the touch indicating some sort of electrical problem. Bath: The room description said that the room had a bath tub whereas it actually has a nice large shower. The Tavern bar: Closed despite the phone system message system saying that it was open. Value for Money: I don't believe this hotel offers value for money compared with another nearby property.

This is a very charming old hotel, but it has seen better days. Our room was spotlessly clean, but the shade over window on the door had been removed and the door knobs were loose and jiggly. The bathroom ceiling had a large, saggy patch which actively dripped water after the water ran in the room above us. The continental breakfast was limited to a few brown bananas, apples specifically labeled as “unwashed” (but with no sink to wash them?!?) stale bagels, and and handful of single serve cereals and yogurt cups. For $250/a night it seems like they could do better. That said, the desk staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel grounds and architecture are beautiful, parking was capacious, and it is an easy walk to the shops and restaurants of downtown Granville.
