I really enjoyed my stay at HI Santa Monica. The women’s dorm felt safe and clean and welcoming. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was a great bonus! Area is close to a ton of stuff including metro and major bus stops, but walking around late at night as a solo women felt a little uncomfortable.

This HI reception barista charged me 5$ to check my bag. This is disgraceful. I am a lifetime member for decades and have never heard of bag charges being levied even in Europe. I want my money back.

A Gem at the beach in LA, you can't go wrong!

Definitely a great hostel with a higher standard of accommodations than the average hostel, especially considering the location in Santa Monica just blocks from the action, the Pier & beach! The place is super clean, has some great amenities and not to mention the Free Continental Breakfast and the friendly and professional staff make the place a top choice when staying in Los Angeles!
