Excellent rental for a family

We were eight adults and three children under four years old. This stunning property gave every couple a bedroom facing the ocean with their own bathroom. The whole rental was thought out well with fans, air conditioning, beach towels, etc. there is no beach in front of the unit but we knew that going in. The pool at the back was the hit for the children and adults. Temperatures were a constant 30 average. I can’t say enough about the caretakers Hugo and Eunice. Their dedication and care were heartfelt. They cut up fruit and set the table every morning and tidied up the bedrooms and living area every day. Little did we know that HUGO is a chef so we hired him for many meals. We started asking him to surprise us with Mexican meals and he did not fail. He surpassed all expectations and provided restaurant quality meals.We gave it a four star because the VRBO furniture is looking a little old, like the kitchen table, appliances. The VRBO contact form letter was excellent to advise on things, but when I tried to reach the people they listed i I didn’t get a response back. I ended up speaking with the concierge David, who was excellent, the Vrbo team and HUGO and got all my needs met. I would highly recommend this rental. Thank you again HUGO and Eunice for making our stay so memorable.

GREAT location, lovely property

My husband, our adult kids, their spouses, one grandbaby, and our 17 year old daughter recently stayed here for 8 days. We had a wonderful time. Here's my feedback: The location in Akumal is excellent. Walking distance to restaurants, beach club, convenience stores, atm, and shops. It's just a short drive down the street to the Yal-ku Lagoon. Spending the day at the lagoon is a little spendy for a group unless you bring all your own snorkel stuff. But totally worth it. That place is magic. The seaweed (sargasos, I think it's called) was there the whole time but it wasn't a big deal. The shore behind the house is rocky and has a really cool blowhole that is fun to watch. It was super windy the whole time which I didn't mind because it acts as a natural A/C for the main part of the house. The bedrooms have their own units. The beds were comfy. Eunice cleaned and made the beds every day in addition to cutting up fruit for breakfast every morning. The house manager came and greeted us the first day there and was very responsive to our needs. I guess my only less than stellar feedback would be that the pool needs better servicing. It's smaller than the pictures make it seem, which is fine. But it needs a good deep cleaning. The filter didn't seem to be working at all until we reached out to the manager and they had someone over the next morning to clean it up and get it going. It's just a bit aged. My husband cut his foot on a filter hole on the bottom of the pool that the cover had come off of. That was worrisome and painful but it turned out okay after some hobbling around for a few days. The bathrooms are classic Mexican painted tile and kept clean, but I feel they could use some updating. Some of the showers don't drain super well. Overall, we loved our stay. We were in need of some serious R&R when we arrived and this place fit the bill nicely. There are multiple hammocks, seating areas and places to just chill out. It is a long drive from Cancun, but that has it's plusses as well. If they were to update the bathrooms and better service the pool, we'd probably stay there again. As is, I have no regrets. Eunice and Hugo are wonderful caretakers. The place has a very comfy, welcoming vibe. Hope this helps everyone make an informed decision.

Just returned home from a week at Akumal. Had a great week at the house. There were 8 of us and the house was perfect for is. Esther and Rico were on site daily to take care of the house and us. We had Esther cook dinner at the house and it was great. It’s a winner all around.

Casa Dos Palmas is a beautiful home, very peaceful and accommodating. Our Family consisted of of 10 family members of different ages... all loved the space and breathtaking ocean views. Akumal is a small town, walking distance from the house with a variety of shops and restaurants. We would definitely return to this beautiful home! Great Home! Don't Think About It Just Book It!

Book It! This home is amazing!! The home keepers are incredible they helped us out so much. We really appreciate them helping us out everyday. Perfect home to get away and Really enjoy life! There were 9 of us as you can imagine a bit busy. The home is located in the middle of all activities. Literally close to almost all Cenotes. We truly enjoyed our stay. Perfect Family Trip

This was exactly the place we were looking for. Beautiful, relaxing, clean, and safe. Easy communications with the manager. AMAZING onsite caretaker. Walking distance to great restaurants, swimming, SCUBA, and shops. Walking distance to a general store, but only a 20 minute drive to a full grocery store. This is a great choice for people looking for more of a "neighborhood" than a resort. And did I mention the view? We spent every morning on the patio watching the sunrise with the breeze blowing in from the Gulf. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Perfecto!

Great place for friends and/or family! Plenty of room to spread out for our group of 6 friends. Rooftop was a nice gathering spot for sunsets, oceanfront yard/patio perfect for sunning during the day and stargazing at night. Esther and Rigo were pleasant and accommodating, cooked us a fantastic 3-course dinner- We highly recommend taking advantage of this optional service. Be prepared to sleep on extremely firm mattresses which are set atop built in concrete platforms in most of the bedrooms. Otherwise, a perfect place to make your vacation memories!

All pictures are accurate. Great location, walk to everything. We did rent a golf cart for a couple days but found it not necessary. A small bobble on the first night which was taken care of immediately, excellent customer service. Caretakers on site are wonderful and provided great insight on the area. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for making our vacation so wonderful.

Good location, walking distance to a beach, stores, restaurants, etc. Staff was not around much and did not prepare meals as previously agreed upon, so that was kind of a bummer but the house is nice.

Wonderful in every way!

Casa Dos Palmas surpassed our expectations! Esther and Rico were perfect hosts, professional and personal, and the 2 dinners they prepared were memorable. They cleaned everyday, and Esther cut fresh fruit for us in the mornings. The property was comfortable in every way, convenient to town, Yal Ku Cenote, so everything was convenient and accessible. In a word, our week was perfect! Thanks! Glen, Michelle, Dale, Lisa, Sheri, Mike, William, & Lisa.

Love staying at Casa Dos Palmas! I’m very tempted to write a bad review so other people don’t rent it! Esther and Rigo are like family and their cooking is authentic Mayan/Mexican and exceptional. Great house for six or eight people.

Warm and welcoming!

This felt more like HOME than a vacation rental. Our group of 8 women loved our week there and took full advantage of the cooking services of the loving caretakers, Rigo and Esther. Rooms, beds, and ALL facilities VERY comfortable. Walked to the lagoon for snorkeling on our last day and we're sorry we hadn't tried it sooner...fantastic! We were a bit overwhelmed by the crowds and commercialism of the tourist areAs south of Cancun, but Akumal was a peaceful paradise.

Esther and Rico make this property a dream

We were 6 professional women staying at this house for 7 nights to celebrate a 60th birthday. The house is quite nice. There are four bedrooms, two w/king beds and two w/double beds. There is one king and one double on each of the two floors. Each bedrooms has its own bathroom with a shower. The house has a nice living room, a good size dining room table, a decent kitchen and has a rooftop where you can enjoy drinks at sunset or coffee in the morning. There is a smaller bedroom suitable for kids w/no bathroom. The outside areas are lovely. There is a pool in the font of the house (opposite the ocean) with a nice sitting area w/hammocks and loungers/table/chairs. In the back (ocean side) there is a table/chairs for dining and a lovely area under a canopy with shade and very comfortable outdoor furniture and hammocks. The view of the ocean is stunning, but this house, like many others in Akumal, is not on the beach. There is a rocky access down to the water with a very small beach area to enter the water. We went snorkeling here once but not much to see. We found good snorkeling in Akumal bay (do not pay the 400 pesos...just walk down the beach a 100 ft) where we saw a lot of turtles and fish. We walked 10 min to the north for beach time where we also had some nice snorkeling (no turtles). I am afraid the beach at Akumal Bay, and Akumal itself, is going the way of Playa del Carmen and becoming commercialized. Staying at Casa dos Palmas did allow us to avoid a lot of the tourist traps and enjoy the calm and beauty. There are restaurants in town and along half moon bay. I have been coming to Akumal for 30 years so am familiar with food options. None of them are as good as having Esther and Rico, the onsite caretakers, make meals for you. I can't say enough good things about Esther and Rico. The owners of this house are very lucky to have them. Though the house is lovely and the views magnificent, what really makes this place a gem is Esther and Rico. They prepared 5 breakfasts and 5 dinners for us. Ester's food is fabulous. They are gracious hosts, keep the place spotless and do whatever they can to help. We would all come again...mostly because of Esther and Rico. The one downside was the concierge service the manager referred us to. Very disorganized and inaccurate information on pick up. Being quite familiar w/this airport I was disappointed with the arrangements and lack of proper information. I'd definitely come back.

Hidden costs

Though we had a lovely time staying in Dos Palmas we were shocked on our last day when the housekeeper asked for a 350 dollar tip. We can only assume guests are expected to subsidise her income. This should be made clear on booking and left us with a very bitter taste.

Luxury by the Sea!

Wow--what a property! With a fantastic backyard overlooking the sea, we watched crashing waves, both from the yard and from the rooftop terrace! On one day we went snorkeling to the lagoon nearby, on another we simply enjoy the luxury of the home, listening to the cocophany of birds while lounging by the pool. The welcome basket of fruits was simply another added delight too! My wife loved breastfeeding our little on on the hammock while watching the sunrise. Because of course, he had us awake buy then!
