Mt. Rainier hiking

We stayed five night and no house keeping service. The minimum would have been to empty garbage and clean bathroom. The place is very convenient to Mt. Rainier Nisqually entrance. The place where we stayed could use updating (replace carpet, etc). The beds were replaced with the memory foam mattresses --and there is air con! The hosts were lovely

Bare necessities, room with beds, no hair dryer, no cups for coffee, why would you have coffee maker without any cups? Location is good but office hours end at 6 pm, so if you come late and don’t have cups for coffee or hair dryer good luck, you won’t get it till 9 next day. Disappointed.

Great communication from the hotel on checking in. The front desk is open limited hours, but the check-in was flawless. You can’t get any closer to the Mt. Raineer park gate. WiFi worked well without interruptions. Cleanliness was ok. No cleaning service or garbage pick up in 3 days. We had four adults (two 19 y.o. kids) staying in the same room. The space was tight. The sink and the only mirror was inside the bathroom so it was inefficient to get ready in the morning. Beds were ok. Shower water pressure was weak. (We recommend moving/adding the sink to the kitchenette area and repurposing the wasted closet space to the kitchenette and adding a full size mirror). The area has VERY limited amenities. We liked the Ukrainian restaurant and bakery and Himalayan cuisine restaurant. The general store and gas station didn’t even have bread and only had ham and cheddar for sandwich options that we build on hamburger buns. No decent chips or mustard or snack options in the area, so bring everything with you, unless you want to drive 30 min to an ok grocery store. Bring the breakfast with you too if you like to start hiking early. Hotel room had folgers coffee for the 12 cup coffee maker, no creamer, no sugar, only pink sugar substitute. I would bring my own stuff for coffee including 12cup coffee filters if I knew. Parking is directly outside the cabin, so VERY convenient to load, unload and hop in the car. I didn’t see better options in the area.

Check in was fine, left information for us at the front as the office was closed, they also emailed it to us (but I didn't have enough service to check the email). Our floor in our room was dirty, there was hair everywhere and a used toothpick very visibly on the floor. Nothing to stir the coffee with (the office didn't open until around 9 I believe and when they did, they told me they didn't have stirrers!) The water was not hot at night or in the morning so we all took luke-warm showers. I did mention all of this to an employee who stated he was new but he had a hot shower that morning...

This is a very unique cabin - very dark with low ceilings. It was super rustic with graffiti all over the walls - hundreds of names, messages, etc. carved into the wood. It was not cleaned well and the bathroom fan did not work. The cabin is literally 50 feet from the entrance of the park which is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No AC but we didn’t need it as the area is cool even in mid July. Overall, a mixed bag - looking for a sort of creepy, rustic adventure - then this is perfect. Looking for comfort, probably go somewhere else.

The location was great. That said, we booked what they claim to be a deluxe cottage. We arrived late and the late arrival process was simple but our cottage was in an unacceptable condition from a cleanliness standpoint. We spent significant time upon arrival cleaning cobwebs from every area of the room, removing spiders, removing numerous hairballs from the sink and disposing of dirty socks from a previous guest. The lighting in the cottage was very poor. We enjoyed the area but the condition of our room was unacceptable. They should not advertise it as a deluxe cottage and it is not worth the price. The staff offered us a credit because we had to clean the room but we never received it.

A cabin in the street, nestled between the garbage bins and the highway. Good: can see MRNP from the front door, clean, FULL size appliances, friendly staff. Bad: No Internet/ signal, the front steps were 2 car lengths from the highway with constant park traffic, no closet or place to hang clothes or put suitcases. Door hits the bed so can’t open all the way, full size appliances, but no kitchenware (plates, bowls, silverware etc.), so dark in kitchen area had to use my phone to start the coffee pot.

Right next to the park entrance!

It is a wonderful location for those vising Mt. Rainier National Park. It's a simple motel with a kind of DIY decor, but has a nice hot shower, a powerful AC unit, large fridge, a good microwave, a coffee maker with a supply of coffee, and clean and reasonably comfortable beds (we like them to be a bit firmer than the softer kind there). It was quiet at night.

First the pro - Proximity to Rainier; right outside park gate The cons - When we came back from dinner (after the front desk was closed), our cabin smelled so bad as soon as we opened the door. We soon found that sewage was coming up through the shower floor which was disgusting and unfortunately prevented us from a much needed shower! The cabins are fairly close to each other at sometime around 1:30am, I was awoken by noise. At first I thought - is that coyote/wolves howling. Nope, it was the cabin next door listening to tv very loud which went on for another half hour or so Finding food was a big challenge. We ate at the Wildberry for lunch which was great but during the middle of the week, so many of the other restaurants were closed and we struck out ending up eating cheese and crackers for dinner. I wish there were some basic kitchen amenities provided in the cabin, even paper plates, cups, etc. - especially since the front office closes leaving you without anything. Something to also be aware of is that traffic for sunrise at Rainier starts around 4:00am which can clearly be heard from the cabin since the windows needed to be open due to the heat and no fan (except ceiling fan provided) to drown out the noise and provide air flow Finally, communication. I let the office know immediately in the morning about the sewage and it’s been a week without a response. I expected some sort of discount to compensate for the inconvenience. I would look somewhere else…
