Beautiful Hotel on the top of the hill you get the best views of Avalon from Zane Grey. Wonderful staff and provided transportation all day. Amazing experience would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning:)

We did not have hot water in the showers. They moved us to another room, but still the shower was lukewarm or cold. When we opened the pull out sofa bed, there was some kind of yellow/brown stain in the bedding all the way to the mattress. Are the rooms being cleaned and sanitized properly between guests. The pool wasn't heated, it was freezing, so we couldn't swim, which was a bummer.

1- They called us the day before for air arrival confirmation, they said they were gonna pick us up from express line and when we got there they never showed up even after we called them. Had no choice but to walk. 2- The advertisement was smoke free hotel but when we got there our hallway to the room and everywhere smelt like pot and some 3- falls advertisement , all the pictures you see does not exist 4- poor breakfast area and no one was present. We also heard that the only customer that was there didn’t have hot water the night before. 5- our room door was broken and wouldn’t lock all night. The staff was horrible except one person and they were okay. 6- they said they were gonna send our luggage to the express line at 3:15 and we called 3 times and our luggage wasn’t there until 3:45pm and our ship was leaving at 3:50. We didn’t get a sorry and definitely won’t be staying there again! Not recommended to anyone.

The hotel hot water tank was knowingly out in the rooms on the left wing. They moved us to another room saying it would be better and the water was still lukewarm. Then they shared that they would give us a key to another room for us to shower in. The property was beautiful and staff tried their best given the circumstances. But this seems to be an ongoing issue and the same story is told to all customers. They need to fix the hot water tank.

Sadly once again Zane Grey was another disappointment ! We have stayed there 4 times and the same issues of no hot water , water being turned off , toilet seat broken n repaired with duct tape ( I have pictures) all latches to close windows are broken , on one of the coldest n very windy night the window latch was broken so the window continually slammed into the window sill ! It was so bad and freezing cold and very noisy , I had to complain at front desk fearing the window would break and glass would be in our room , maintenance duct taped the window closed , this is a high end hotel and it was a motel 6 stay at high end prices and no partial refund of any kind . Be warned if you stay there you could have no hotter or water , ants keeping you company , foul tasting tap water when brushing teeth , dangerous hanging wires from TV , a so so free breakfast that had the same items as the day before , not fresh , ! Yes the view is great , yes the front desk , Crystal was a doll , Carl and Enrique the drivers were great, but sadly this is a historical hotel . Zane Grey would be ashamed of the lack of maintenance and numerous issues that are ongoing . I would expect this at a less priced hotel , but 600 a night or more this is indeed very sad . It is shameful that the owners do not care enough to keep this historical property in the best of what is expected for this kind of money. Also we tip generously to the cart drivers , the front desk who are also the maid. Do not stay here !!

The property has a major issue with hot water and their faucets are in disrepair as well as their mini split heating and cooling systems. This made it difficult to take a hot shower during my entire stay, wash hands effectively and I went to bed freezing cold because their mini splits were dysfunctional. Water didn't stream properly from their bathroom sink faucets making handwashing difficult, also with only cold water. These are basic maintenance issues that a hotellier should manage, and they know about them but haven't fixed them. Staff seem frustrated with the ussues also but had no answers except to guide guests through the tricks of working through these old systems they had learned. But no one wants to deal with that on vacation. Also, the problems with this property are serious health and safety issues and they need to be taken seriously.

Amazing view

The view from our room, 303, is amazing. The staff is friendly and the shuttle is exceptionally convenient. We would walk to town and then call for pickup when ready to return to the hotel. The breakfast was adequate although nothing was really hot except the coffee. Strongly suggest going to the rooftop deck and enjoying a beverage or picnic at sunset. While the sun sets on the other side of the mountain so you can’t really see, it is so peaceful and beautiful up there.

We stayed for a weekend (Fri - Sun) during February (off-season). First the areas of opportunity for improvement: the hot water in the shower can take up to five minutes to start getting hot, there was a small piece of wood that was loose in our room that divides the bedroom to the bathroom when that came off there were some exposed nails, the chairs in the balcony could've used a cleaning, the dairy, in the breakfast was questionable as my coffee had curds when I put in some half-and-half... I used the coffee mate packs instead, I know the hotel went through a recent remodel, but it seems like things were still kind of missing like there was a door missing between our hallway and the external side of the hotel and there are stairs that lead to a road and anybody can come and go through those stairs into the property. The safe in our room did not work. It looked like it had been drilled and there was a screw missing in it. There was a lamp on only one side of the bed. It would've been nice to have one on the other. On the positive side the front staff is extremely courteous and friendly. They deserve an A . The hotel is nice and you cannot beat the views of Avalon. Aside from the dairy issue, breakfast is actually pretty decent. We especially like the complementary transportation to and from downtown Avalon, although we did feel kind of bad requesting it so often. And aside from the issues in the room, the bed is comfortable. The room is nice and very spacious.
