Hand- tiled shower; bathroom and vanity. Natural clay plaster walls in the bedroom with a living roof above. Natural finishes throughout. The cottage has a cozy feel to it and seems much bigger than its 420 sq. ft. Careful attention has been paid to using re-purposed and natural building materials. Behind the cottage there is a Campfire area with picnic table, gas grill and firewood supply exclusively for the guests use. Plenty of opportunity for forest bathing before or after your day at the beach or unlimited cross country skiing , biking and hiking. We have directions to numerous nearby public beach access sights on Bear Lake and Lake Michigan for guests to enjoy great picnics, swimming, relaxing and recreation. Road and Mountain biking opportunities nearby. Unlimited cross country skiing on both developed trails, snowmobile trails and backcountry skiing. Other things to note
Bakery Lane cottage is located in the heart of Northern Michigan and a perfect location for so many destinations. It is the site of our former Artisan bakery. We provide private parking for our guests next to the cottage and we keep our own vehicles at the bottom of the driveway. You may notice us coming or going during your stay.
We are off the beaten path with solitude and serenity but within 10 miles of Lake Michigan beaches, local attractions, grocery stores, farm markets and eateries. We have a large organic garden and hoop house and a great love for nature and the cycles of the seasons. In the Spring it is maple syrup season and in the summer we make time for bike rides to Lake Michigan to our favorite spot for a picnic and swim. We welcome people of all races, genders and orientations and encourage others to do so as well.
