This is such a lovely cottage in a perfect setting. Waren Mill is a tiny hamlet of a few houses and a converted mill right next to Budle Bay and only about 10 minutes from the magnificent Bamburgh castle and the best beach you’ll ever see with lovely fine white sand and no dog restrictions. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and is very well equipped. There is parking for one car in front of the cottage. We visited several of the castles in the region and the Farne islands, all of which were easy to drive to. The roads in Northumberland are excellent and easy to drive with so much less traffic than the south of England. The garden was very well kept and such a tranquil place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea whilst listening to the stream and looking at the view of the animals in the field opposite, which included some adorable lambs. Gill had left a folder with information in it which was very useful. Unfortunately the neighbours who put the bin out have moved. The bin collection day is early on a Wednesday. A very nice gentleman put it out whilst we were there, but I understand he just pops down to collect his post from his daughter’s house and does it if he’s there. Gill’s communication with me prior to our stay was excellent and very helpful. Northumberland hasn’t changed since I last visited about 25 years ago and remains a very beautiful place. I thoroughly recommend Gill’s cottage for a very comfortable stay in Northumberland.
