Situated on a quiet side street, about five minutes outside of Beulah, Hal’s Hideaway is the perfect getaway for your group. The well-maintained cottage has plenty of space for the kids to play, with a spacious side yard and single-hoop basketball court. The backyard firepit offers privacy for those toasted s’mores cookouts before winding down for bed.

Inside, you’ll find a cozy living room with plenty of space for the kids to cuddle up in front of the TV for some late-night movie streaming. The kitchen has an attached dining nook, while the enclosed porch and deck offer the perfect space for that early morning coffee.

The Crystal Lake public access is right across Crystal Drive, about a two-minute walk away. Unlike many waterfront lots on Crystal Lake, the public access lot for Hal’s Hideaway is deep, adding a bit more safety for the little ones to play. While the lot may be deep, the water stays shallow for quite some time, becoming sandy after the first few steps into the water.

Good but no A/C

The property is nice and close to the lake. Plenty of room. There was no A/C but fans were provided. There were kayaks available which was nice. We had to go into the basement and turn on some of the breakers for some of the lights and outlets to work. I liked the drive through driveway.

The location and space provided were excellent. The drive to Beulah is only about 5 minutes and Frankfort isn’t far away either. The boat ramp across the street was quiet and accessible. We visited in late June and on the hotter days, it was HOT at night. We did not see any fans on site other than a very small (maybe 4”) fan. The bedrooms did not have ceiling fans either, and opening windows does not provide much relief. It’s worth planning for the heat if you’re going to rent this property. We arrived and found several dead bugs upon arrival but did not have an issue after that. The outdoor sun room area was very nice, feels newer and provided a good space for hanging out.

The photos and description are deceptive for Hal’s Hideaway. Pictures don’t show that to get to the bathroom, all paths go through the master bedroom. House is not on the lake like pictures suggest. Dusty window ledges and carpenter ants. Ugh! Complaint calls did not bring local manager.
