This was a beautiful excursion for me and my girlfriend. I think it could’ve been cleaner, at least for her. However, when you’re staying in a cottage out in the woods I think it’s probably tough to keep all of the outside from being inside. That being said there were minimal bugs and other things like that in my opinion. The amenities were plentiful, I had everything we needed to cook in our beautiful cottage. The availability of canoes, bikes, and more was awesome too. I will definitely bring the more outdoor inclined back here again.
This community of cabins is located off the beaten path, with little to no call phone coverrage. We booked this a few hours before arriving, while on the Skyline Drive. When we arrived the check in staff had left at 5:00. There was information posted outside, with wifi access (which helped me access my Expedia reservation information) and phone numbers to call (but no cell service). Our cabin # was posted, so we proceeded to the cabin to find it locked....and lock box with no code. We returned to the check in space and tried again to call contacts with no luck. Realized that it was not locked, so looked around inside for information and eventually we were met by someone affiliated with the resort, who was able to provide us with the code to get into our cabin.
Lovely setting. Cozy, comfortable cabins to enjoy a rainy overnight and morning before continuing on our journey.
We had a wonderful stay at the farm. We definitely cannot wait to come back. It's kind of a halfway point for us to see our grandchildren
It would be really nice if you could put like a bar height chairs with a table on the deck so you can actually see the water and eat outside
A great location and an extremely comfortable house. A lake with canoes available and a trail through the forest. Wildlife observation from the porch 😊 Highly appreciated!
I and my family loved loved LOVED this resort! So close to everything! The cabin was adorable and my 4 year old and hubby had the best time! It was so nice to be out in the wilderness but also feel so safe! We will definitely be back!
Absolutely loved our tranquil and serene stay at the Montfair Resort Farm! The property felt incredibly safe and was clean and easily accessible. We would definitely stay again! Gorgeous location.
The Pawpaw A-frame cabin was great for our group of three. The stairs to the loft sleeping are pretty steep, make sure you are going to be at ease with a middle of night descent. Cozy and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is lots of information on local hikes in the office. Great stay!
Lovely barebones cabin (but you are in a cabin, it should be barebones). Check in was easy. The "lake" view we had was at the very end and was more of a "woods" view. There is a beautiful farm up the road so be prepared for cows mooing early in the morning and at dusk.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
It was clean, there was plenty of hot water for the shower, and the bed was not terrible. But the cabin was in need of serious updates as it was shabby, musky, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It had two mini fridges and a mini freezer. Neither fridge was very cold even when turned all the way up. In the end, not terrible but definitely over priced considering the condition.
We enjoyed using the well-equipped kitchen in a rustic environment. It reminded us of past experiences at our lake cabin in Wisconsin.

If you arrive after dark you may have some difficulty in locating your cottage. Also, be sure and bring your own food to prepare once your settled because there are no dining options available locally.
I love the rustic feel of the cottages and the small space is so cozy… To be able to walk out the door and go for a hike is the best part. Wineries are super close as well as some of the larger wineries maybe 30 to 40 minutes away. Crozet is also a great little town that has lots of concerts and festivals at their local breweries and cidery‘s great location, encapsulated by awesome mountain views
