Claremont River House on rauhallinen pakopaikka sijaitsee korkealla niemimaalla näkymät James River. Sijainti itsessään on syvä historia, ennen aika varhaisimmista Euroopan uudisasukasta, mutta itse talo oli rakennettu noin 10 vuotta sitten luovuutta perääntyä.
Kukin neljä tasoa talossa on huoneita parvekkeilla edessä vettä ja näkemykset vaihtelevat pitkälle ylös ja alas kaunis James River. Alakerrassa on kävellä pois kellarista, jossa on makuuhuone kotelo queen kaksipäinen kivi laatta suihku, erillinen wc ja suuri yhteisöllinen oleskelualue. Alakerrassa on suuri suuri huone ja yhteinen keittiö sekä pääsyä kolmella sivulla Ulottumamitan kuisti. Kaksi makuuhuonetta sijaitsevat toisessa kerroksessa; päällikölle king size-vuode ja armollinen kylpyamme, jossa Kohler tohveli amme, avautuu oma parveke joelle. Toisessa makuuhuoneessa on queen size-vuode ja oma kylpyhuone ja tarjoaa näkymät syistä. Ylin kerros taloa viihtyisä huone, jossa on oma kylpyhuone ja viehättävä, lintuperspektiivistä ahven joen yli. Neljän hehtaarin perusteet tarjoavat yksinäisyydestä sekä helpon joen puolella yhteisöä.
Suuri osa puutyö kotona tehtiin Mack Headley, entinen mestari käsityöläinen Williamsburg. Osa siitä, kuten kalanruoto kuviollinen kerros Great Room ja portaikko, oli hänen kauttansa tehty paikallisista pähkinä.

We had a wonderful time here. The house was lovely with expansive river views in most of the rooms and an abundance of decks to enjoy the outdoors. Be aware that the house is on four levels so guests need to be prepared to navigate stairs. The grounds are beautiful and the vibe is very peaceful and oriented to nature. Just across the river are all of the historical sites and amenities within Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We visited and enjoyed all three over the course of two separate days. With the ferry ride, plan on an hour to get to anything on the other side of the river but it's a peaceful and lovely crossing. The rest of our 9 day stay we relaxed on our side of the river. We had friends join us for the second half of our visit and the house easily accomodated everyone with a nice mix of privacy and group gathering spaces. Chippokes State Park is definitely worth a visit - great hiking along the river and interesting exhibits as the oldest working farm in the country. We tried two of the local restaurants (Surry Seafood Company and the Mexican restaurant) both were pleasant surprises - excellent fresh food well prepared). There is not much to do on the house side of the river but if you are looking for a peaceful place to relax, enjoy nature, connect with family or friends - it's a beautiful space I could highly recommend.

We get together yearly with my family and this year we decided to do historical VA and absolutely loved this house when we saw it on VRBO. It looks exactly like the pictures, so what youbsee is what you get The view from the balconies are phenomenal. Its close to a lot of things but still far enough away for a quiet retreat after a long day. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us!

Terrific Property

The River House at Claremont was one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. I am a huge Gone With the Wind fan and this property brought you back to the South prior to the Civil War all we needed were ball gowns to make it really authentic. The house was well appointed with the necessaries (toilet paper, tissues, and toiltetries). In addition the kitchen pantry had salt, pepper, flour and other staples. The interior of the house is amazing with much of the furniture handmade by the owner who was a master woodworker at Williamsburg. The host Anna was very friendly and communication was excellent. Can't wait to return to this wonderful property.

Retreat from Williamsburg

Property as described. Remote but we didn’t find the commute to Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown to be excessive. The ferry ride went smoothly and gave us time to fine tune our daily plans and relax a bit after a day of sightseeing. Surry county is friendly and has wonderful historical sites as well

Great Last Minute Labor Day Getaway

We sought a getaway to Williamsburg. When we found the Claremont River house, we were happy to book. We enjoy staying near/in Surry because the ferry ride is part of our experience. Anna was great to work with. She was accommodating to our needs. This was definitely one of the nicer VRBO stays we’ve experienced.

Amazing Home by the James River!

We visited from Los Angeles. Anna was an amazing host. She even checked in before our visit to make sure all was well. The house was spectacular and was very secluded, which was the experience we were seeking. The property is amazing as well. Big open space, high on a hill overlooking the James River.

Wonderful house, but…

The property itself is wonderful. Super clean and many amenities. Amazing views of the James River. However, the information provided on the site never mentioned that the property is “more than one hour” away from any of the area’s attractions, for example Bush Gardens. That being said, I admit I never asked the manager for this information nor did I do research regarding distances to local attractions. I do want to thank the host for providing an extraordinarily beautiful home and for responding promptly to my questions.

Awesome 50th bday girls getaway!

The house was beautiful and unique and comfortable and clean! We had a great time! If you are OK with town being a drive 45 minutes or more. The river was peaceful and we just talked and chilled and cooked! Anna’s pizza in Surry was yummy!!

Wonderful Respite!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Claremont House. The peacefulness, the beauty of the 4 acres, the glimpses of wildlife, the lovely house with its wonderful architecture, and the beautiful James River all combined to give us the peace and relaxation we sought. This was a last minute get-away for our upcoming 40th wedding anniversary. Other plans had fallen through but the Claremont House was a wonderful Plan B. Anna and her mom were a delight and very helpful.

A late Christmas get together

The house was perfect for all of the family to relax and be together. Because of work schedules it was impossible to be together over Christmas. They left up the Christmas tree so we could enjoy a late Christmas. The management was very helpful

Amazing home with water view

The house was a grand home with verandas on multiple levels. We enjoyed sitting outside at the end of each day with wine and enjoying the view (birds, boats, and deer). The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals with a marvelous stove, 2 ovens, microwave and cookware as well as ample dishes. 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths meant each of the four of us had our own space. The common areas were very nice.y appointed as well. The internet also was functional. It was a free ferry ride to many historic sites but the trip was worth it as we could return to a grand home and enjoy the quiet.

Spectacular - Exquisit Stay

Beautiful house in a quiet serene setting...Everything one could need for a perfect stay was in the house. It was close to many places to visit and/or parks. Each room was filled with light and each bedroom, its own bathroom. The gathering room was fantastic and the porches provided amazing views of the river. We saw rabbits, deer, hawks, plus more...on the property. We walked a 2 mile loop to the river and back through town to the house. At night we saw shooting stars and had spectacular sunsets and sunrises. We celebrated 4 birthdays and 1 retirement. We had dinners at the large table together. Coming from various States, this was a magical week and place to be together.
