Welcome to Mountain Top Escape! This comfortable, family friendly, fully furnished single-level 3/2 home is located in a quiet location on the "sunny side" of the Village of Cloudcroft at 8,900 feet and offers a mountain lifestyle with all the conveniences of village living. It's an easy five minute walk into the village for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment or to the brewery. It offers easy parking in front with car port, lots of natural light, spacious rooms, hardwood floors throughout, new bathroom and kitchen floors, a beautiful view from the wall of windows in the living room, fenced back yard, covered patio, and outdoor deck and sitting area with tables, chairs, glider, umbrellas and gas grill to enjoy those beautiful and relaxing mountain times!

Upon entering the home, the living room offers an open concept with dining area (table and six chairs) and a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, washer and dryer. There are three spacious bedrooms - primary
with queen bed, bathroom with shower, and smart TV; second with queen bed and TV; and a third with a full size bed. Internet, whole house WiFi, and full cable TV line-up (including HBO and NFL Network). All bedrooms have closets. Smart TVs in living room and master bedroom, TV in one bedroom has built-in DVD player. The primary bathroom has a shower, guest bathroom has a tub/shower combo. There are also two humidifiers for guests to use to help with the dry mountain air. Whole house water softener and new water heater installed June 2021 and new dishwasher installed October 2023 to help ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We also offer discounts for longer stays: 1) Rent for 6 nights, get the 7th free, and 2) Rent for 28+ nights, get a 40% discount.

This is a great place to use as your base for hiking, sight seeing, golfing and skiing, tubing, and snow boarding in Cloudcroft or Ruidoso, or just relaxing and enjoying the cool, crisp, clean mountain air and beautiful skies and sunsets.

Take all garbage with you. You may dispose of in any dumpster you see; there are several close to the cabin. Cloudcroft does not have personal garbage pick up services.
Leave used beds turned down.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Due to current extremely dry conditions + high fire danger, NO SMOKING is allowed anywhere on premises. Violators will be assessed additional fees.
To expedite the departure and check-out process, please leave all beds used during the stay unmade - no need to strip the beds.
To avoid extra fees, gather all trash and dispose of it in dumpsters in the Village. Do not leave any trash or food outside as it attracts pests.

Great house close to downtown

Some issues with check in, but owners got in contact with us to resolve. House had all necessities plus some, making it the best stocked rental we have been in ever (military couple - so quite a lot). Walkable to town but if there is snow 4wheel drive is required. Double bed was squeaky, teenager chose to sleep on the couch. Fireplace was fantastic. Loads of games, blankets and disks for sleeding. We had a great time.

I can't say enough positive things about this property, but I'll try. This is obviously someone's home away from home and it feels like you are staying at a relative's house. There are actually too many amenities to list including, board games, fully stocked spices, every cooking utensil we needed, a gas grill, even standard OTC medicines in the medicine cabinet. The hosts have conveniently labelled each drawer and cupboard with details about the contents. Want some trekking poles for your hikes -- it has them. Want some disks to slide down snow covered slopes or the dunes at White Sands -- it has them. There were only two of us, but it is obvious that it is roomy enough for a family. Prior to our arrival the hosts kept us updated about dining options both in Cloudcroft and in Alamogordo as well as recommending a nice hike. We took our morning coffee on the patio and at dinners on the deck. We got up close and almost personal with both a deer and elk family who regularly visited us. In short: if it's available, book it!

Mountain top escape provides a comfortable and convenient three bedroom two bath getaway in the heart of Cloudcroft. The hosts have gone to great effort to make the deck and the inside of the home very enjoyable!

Mountain get away!

Absolutely love this place, close to town, great amenities, plenty of space. Patio was awesome, elk and deer strolling by in the mornings and evenings. Will be coming back for another mountain retreat!

Great Mountain Vacation

The hosts were so helpful in the days leading up to our trip, sharing tips and ideas for our Cloudcroft visit. When we arrived to the house, it was clean, comfortable and well stocked. It’s the perfect location to walk to Burro Ave or Cloudcroft Brewery. They had the disks and wax available at the house for White Sands. My kids had the best time with all of the board and card games at the house. We really enjoyed our visit.

An Absolute Gem

Wonderful Family Vacation Home

We had an amazing stay in Cloudcroft, NM. This home was in the perfect location (close enough for us to walk several places when it snowed too much to drive), was clean and equipped with everything we needed with Beautiful Views. The owners and property manager were very nice, informative, helpful and prompt when contacting them before/during our stay. We definitely recommend this home if you are staying in this area. Great Place to Stay

We found the property in a delightful place in town. Close to walk into town and a pleasant deck for late afternoon/evening relaxing. Well apportioned. The house had everything we needed. We were able to walk down to the art and wine festival and enjoyed our time. Our only suggestion would be to begin replacing the pillows in the bedrooms. Beds were just fine. Plenty of room to spread out and visit or have some quiet time. Thanks for providing such a wonderful place.

Great Stay and Awesome Hosts

We decided at the last minute to make a road trip to New Mexico from Austin, TX, as our Southwest flights to Bay Area were canceled for multiple days. We needed more time to research about Cloudcroft area. Luckily, we could get this home for a few nights. David and Anne Marie were extremely helpful in providing the lay of the land about the area and activities. The home was fantastic in such a beautiful location. We felt like we could have stayed in a short-term rental but we rather felt staying in an actual home. Everything from the kitchen, bathroom, and beds are well stocked and well-maintained. There is a guide in the home about things-to-do, places to see in Cloudcroft, and surrounding areas which was extremely helpful. We spent our evenings playing games and cards there were available. If you're in Cloudcroft, look no other place than this fantastic home and awesome hosts.

We had a lovely stay. The owners were kind enough to warn us of an impending snow storm and offered early check in at no charge. The home is older but very well equipped with a lovely gas fireplace. We were able to walk to the nearby village and our kiddos enjoyed building a snowman in the backyard space.

Cool mountain getaway

Spent a long weekend here to get away from the Texas heat. This property was centrally located and walking distance from local stores and restaurants. Very clean with multiple wildlife spottings daily! Great Wifi and TV options. Would definitely stay again.

Great weekend Getaway

Great location! Perfect place for a weekend getaway with the family. Nice and quiet with a beautiful view. There was 7 of us and it was important that everyone had a bed (and not a roll away or couch). Well equipped kitchen to prepare meals. Lots of games and puzzles for entertainment. Only about a 7 minute walk to the town center- it is easy going down to town, it might be alittle steep going back up (for older people).

A Perfect Getaway!

The house is absolutely awesome! Everything is cleaned and clearly labeled. David and Anne Marie have thought of everything and they provided me with so many suggestions and tips for enjoying our time at the house. Its located perfectly! Just out of the way but the town is well within walking distance. I wish could put into words how perfect this house is and how awesome David and Anne Marie were but I cant. All I can say is if you are visiting Cloudcroft, you got to stay here. It has everything you need to have an enjoyable family stay, whether you are spending a day in town or enjoying game night inside, you cant go wrong! Thank you David and Anne Marie!
