The original Pine River Dam in Crosslake was built from timber in 1884 and became fully operational in 1886. It was later rebuilt into its present concrete structure between 1905 and 1908. Today, this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers structure manages water levels for the entire Whitefish Chain of Lakes and features a popular local recreation area.

Before the Dams were built, Lumber enterred Cross Lake from the shores around this Log Landing Lake Home. The Old Firehall across the road (housing our Gymnasium with Basketball, Pickleball, ping pong, fitness rooms, and the Billiards Lounge) was built to deal with all of the fires that occurred at the site of so much lumber and forestry commerce. When you see some long and smooth logs embedded into the beach, know that those had been logged around 150 years ago, and are a remnant of a different life that this Property once had.
