the location was excellent, but the hotel is pretty run down with stains in the carpet and knicks on the furniture. the morning breakfast was a joke unless you like waffles. the hotel is in some serious need of updating

Nice, but...

The hotel is in a wonderful location, great view from a lot of the rooms and within the marina area. However, Dana Point is in the early stages of being demolished and rebuilt - the sketches of the rebuild do not look promising. It's unknown if this hotel is going to be one of the casualties but they don't seem to be putting much into upkeep and certainly not much of anything into any upgrades at this point. Don't know if the rebuilding is the reason but it might be. And that's too bad.

Very nice hotel for the location on the marina. No protein items for breakfast, no eggs or meat for gluten free allergies. Also, no microwave in the room to reheat food.
