When you go to Death Valley you have about 4 lodging options. 2 are very expensive retreats. This is a great less expensive option in the middle of the Park. 98 and sand storms one day, and rain and 60 a few days later. The staff live onsite and were amazing. The lunch and dinner food was surprisingly wonderful. The buffet only breakfast, not so much. Parking was convenient and the rooms clean given the desert surroundings. I might stay at the fancy places if it was a special occasion with a special someone but twice the price.

We had a deluxe king room for our one night stay. It was clean and nicely presented and the bed/pillows were comfortable. The only problem for us was that the bed had only a top sheet to sleep under. This made it feel a bit too cold in bed, particularly as the air con needed to be set to stop heat building in the room. I expect in the height of summer this might be fine but despite the temp being set at 73 deg, we both felt we needed a blanket for full comfort- or at least be given the option of using one. The full size fridge with small freezer was useful for cold drinks but personally we’d have liked a coffee maker as we were in the furthest block from reception/restaurants although they did offer free coffee in reception if you got there before 8am which is a bonus. We ate at the restaurant and both the service and food were excellent. This hotel is in the heart of Death Valley and had we had time we’d have made use of the pool to cool off. There was a small sandstorm brewing when we arrived which was interesting! The hotel is a great option if you want to stay in the heart of this extraordinary national park.

The location inside Death Valley National Park was excellent! Really enjoyed our stay at Stovepipe Wells. The room was clean, large and comfortable. All the staff we met both in the lodge and the dining areas were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the area, offering ideas of what to see and do during our stay. It is quite a distance to travel to any other restaurants from Stovepipe Wells but although we had three dinners and three buffet breakfasts there we really enjoyed all our meals. The food was well prepared, the portions generous and the wait staff, especially the waitress we had all three mornings for the breakfast buffet, were wonderful. Would definitely recommend staying and dining at Stovepipe Wells if visiting Death Valley.
