It was extremely hot in the room, it smelled really bad, there were stains on the rug and bedding. It was just dirty looking. The staff was great but everything else was horrible. I was suppose to get breakfast but had to check out early. Glad I didn't eat the food. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you don't care about cleanliness.
It was a perfect stay at the city hotel , very clean , service was excellent , could not fault hotel , hotel room was beautiful,

Handy location. Room was 'Tired'.
We attended a race meeting at Knockhill. Just 15min drive from hotel. My third stay at the City Hotel.
Check-in was swift. But the room was very tired. And not a double, which had been booked. Single beds. Bathroom was ok, but the room really was aged. Needs a refurb/freshen up. No airconditioning in room. Temp control was opening the windows to the noisy street below. No hair dryer in the room, but you can borrow one from reception. Staff very pleasant.
The Bar downstairs at front was fairly busy with people who weren't guests. But had some ambience and did bar menu. Another bar at the back of the hotel, by the restaurant. They seemed to have a party or karaoke on there late on Saturday evening.
Local wetherspoons type bar is just next door. That was very busy too. Excellent restaurant on corner of road aswell.
Very limited parking. Maybe 5 spaces. Otherwise you park in the large public car park behind the hotel.
Usual question - would i stay there again? It's a Yes. The fairly 'moany' review above is outweighted by convenience.
A splendid stay at the City Hotel. A lovely old hotel with a lovely interior refurbished to suit the fabric of the hotel. Only downside is no lift to second floor, the stairs were awkward for older people. The staff were amazing and helped us with our suitcases.
A beautiful dining area and outside space.
Highly recommend this hotel.

Breakfast at the restaurant was good. Hotel itself is old, lots of stairs to climb, and not very bright. Room was basic and some tea cups were not washed.parking is available at the car park behind (not very expensive) but taking the bags from the car park and climbing those stairs was not easy.
Always book here when going to alhambra, good food and staff very friendly

City Hotel, Dunfermline
Room was very strange with a tiny window high up and stairs next to the bed leading to another door. Bed was okay and it was quiet enough. No table ready for us at breakfast so we were seated at a small round table well away from the other residents and the coffee etc. Breakfast was nice and hot and was good.

The staff were fantastic, the young girl on doing breakfast on Sunday morning was doing a tremendous job by herself, as another member of staff had to go home. Very good cooked fresh breakfast
I did not get the standard family room I booked for 2 adults and 2 children which was on my Expedia receipt. On arrival there was one double bed and 1 single bed. Management said the room was advertised as double executive. They would not refund me directly (Expedia have to - will await their response) and no other hotels were available. They put a camp bed in the room making it cramped, unfortunately we had to live with it. This is hopefully just a one off experience.
Would definitely come back. Hubby & I were off to a track day at Knockhill - ideal location, only about 10/12mins drive to the circuit. Hotel, facilities, room, food & staff were all lovely ☺️👍
Check in quick and easy. Room is totally fine, very clean. However, the bed was so soft it had absolutely no support and it felt like you were going to fall out of it all night.
If you need a hairdryer etc you need to get from reception which is a bit inconvient.
When my husband was having a shower the water cut out completely.
Breakfast is included and was actually very nice.
Overall, it is okay for a night.

Great Hotel, although we had to have separate rooms because they didn’t have a family room for 4. They offered fans and hairdryers at the front desk
Restaurant was good, 2 bars but not much options for cocktails. Seems the UK only makes so many drinks.
But this was a great option for staying close to Edinburgh but far enough way for a reasonable price.
I would stay again for sure!
We stayed here as we were going to Knockhill, which was ten mins away . Staff very friendly, room clean, but as we were facing the High Street, it was very noisy. Would go back but request a room at the back. Great location for shops, restaurants and the lovely Pittencrieff Park.
The hotel was clean and well run. There isnt a lift, so wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility issues.
There is a pay & display car park immediately outside the hotel's back entrance, which costs £4 a day.
Breakfast was excellent. The full Scottish included haggis and black pudding.
The only gripe is that they say that guests aren't allowed to eat takeaway food in their rooms. The evening I had a takeaway, it was perfect weather for eating outside, but i wouldn't have been happy in bad weather
