This property is older and dated but reasonably maintained. It has a good price point but can attract a party crowd. The service is very hit and miss such as with housekeeping, some days they will do everything expected and the next half of the stuff left undone or they have missed the room altogether. I would have to leave notes like, there is no soap in the soap dispenser, the safe was locked when i arrived, etc. One item that irritated me is that they used to have a vending machine in the lobby that you could get some snacks, etc. from. This is now gone so there is zero snacks/sundry items available in this hotel and there really is no where close after hours to get these items from. One staff suggested I walk to a closed drug store, then it was a service station that at night does not let you in but you stand outside and communicate on a intercom and they place the item you want in a steel drawer that they push through the window. Not somewhere I would suggest going to for your late night cola or snack run. Also they do not respond to any email inquiries you send to them. On their website you can fill out the form or use there email address directly in your native email but they will not respond to either. I tried 4 times in the 1 to 3 weeks before my trip and no response to any of my questions or requests. So I would say while the hotel has a good price point for the room sizes there customer service is poor and would no longer recommend.

Front desk staff and staff who brought coffee and water to the room were excellent. Room and location were good for our need to attend an event at Rogers Place (15 minute walk). Room is a bit smaller but comfortable and quiet.

We booked a suite on the top floor for our wedding anniversary and my husbands 50th birthday. We got the keys for our room, but the door would not open so they moved us to another room on the 16th floor. We were looking forward to our stay on this floor because we stayed at the Matrix on our wedding night :) BUT! this stay was not good. The bathroom shower had hair on the walls and floor. If the dirtiness was this brazen and visible, we can assume the bathroom and room have not been cleaned. We instantly got the ick. We called the front desk to tell them about the state of the bathroom and the suggested we book into a room on the 3rd floor. The room was clean, but it was not what we had in mind for our romantic evening. The room was far too large, more fitting for a bride and her family/ bridal party. The front desk staffer, was gracious and helped us as best as she could. But after seeing the room, we decided to stay at our own home, in our own bed and cancel our stay at the Matrix. Please update the rooms, and make sure they are clean before guests check in. Kindest thanks, The Douglases
