For winter sports enthusiasts, Mount Dobson Ski Field is around 30 minutes away, with Fox Peak approximately 50 minutes by car. Round Hill Ski Area is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away, and the Ohau Snow Fields are roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Tekapo is just over 30 minutes away for a visit to the hot pools or ice rink, while Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park can be reached in under two hours if you’re keen to explore further afield.
Snow Chalet also offers covered parking suitable for a boat. Lake Opuha is only a 13‑minute drive away, making it easy to enjoy a day out on the water. If hiking is on your agenda, the Four Peaks High Country Track is around 18 minutes away by car.
