The house and property are lovely. The views were beautiful, the location was great, and the house was very comfortable. We went to three local beaches and they were all beautiful. We used the kayaks to paddle from the boat launch down the road and the paddling was beautiful. It was a bit far to carry the kayaks (almost a quarter mile) so we were glad that we had a vehicle that would allow us to transport them by car. (There is one kayak carrier so one could also just go one at a time or take the carrier back-and-forth a few times.) I would definitely recommend this wonderful home to visitors in the area!

The house was lovely as advertised, if I really wanted to get picky, I would say there’s three things that sort of made us uncomfortable. The master bedroom sinks, barely had water coming out of them, and never had hot water coming out of them, as a group of women, we were uncomfortable that windows that looked on the neighbors didn’t have blinds or a shade so we couldn’t be seen, and we fought an Aunt invasion in the kitchen all weekend

Our Fall getaway in Gloucester (spacious with amazing views!)

We stayed for 5 nights at Mary Helen's vacation rental. The views are beyond spectacular from morning until night, and the sunrises are gorgeous from the upstairs primary bedroom. We were fortunate to have some nice weather and even got out kayaking one day. We had one issue with no heat when we arrived late at night, but Mary Helen was able to resolve our issue very quickly the next morning. The weather had just changed for the season, so the heaters hadn't been tested out yet. Mary Helen is very responsive, a great hostess and we would definitely stay at her home again.

Great Birthday Getaway

Came with family and friends for my 40th birthday to spend some time Salem for the festivities. The house was perfect, far enough away from everything but close enough that we were able to Uber delicious food and site seeing, and a quick train ride to other nearby cities. Perfect.

Better than advertised

It's tucked away in a gorgeous inlet and anyone interested in that quintessential Massachusetts costal view will not be disappointed. My husband and I brought our friends and their spouses together for the first time on a weekend away. It was the perfect setup for a quiet retreat from our hectic lives. The beds and pillows were far and away the most comfortable of any vacation spot we've ever stayed at. Can't recommend this enough if you are coming from outside the States and want a feel for what it can be like here in New England/North Eastern Coast.

Beautiful view of West Gloucester

It rained the first three days so we relaxed and enjoyed the comfortable beds and couches. We also watched the democratic convention on the tv over the fireplace. When the sun shined we took out the kayaks at high tide and explored the area. We also enjoyed the local restaurants and Good Harbor beach after 4 pm. Great relaxing vacation!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway!

My wife and I could not be happier with our stay here! Incredibly clean and comfortable. Screened porch was perfect for staying outside and reading and relaxing. Beds are super comfortable. We loved it so much we asked to extend our stay! MaryHelen was incredibly responsive to our questions. Very close to downtown and the views of the marsh and Annisquam were exactly what we wanted. We couldn’t recommend it more and definitely hope to return again! Thank you for a great Anniversary trip!

Family wedding and reunion

We had a great relaxing week at MaryHelen’s house in Gloucester. The location was perfect and the view of the marsh and river from the porch was lovely to enjoy morning coffee and evening cocktails! Everything was as shown on the listing. Communication was exceptional. We were short bath towels when we arrived and on Sunday a bag of clean linens were delivered and were told to use what we needed. We would definitely stay here again when visiting family.

A little bit of heaven.

Beautiful view. Lots of room to enjoy the house. We really enjoyed the short distance to so many special places Rockport, Rockyneck, Salem and Boston. Used the kayaks and enjoyed the river. Looking forward to visiting again.

This property won’t disappoint! The spectacular view of salt marsh, the easy ride into downtown , and surrounding points of interest. The host provided everything you would need , so don’t overthink what to bring.. even kayaking was available.. we were a large group and we had plenty of space .. hope to return .. Janet 8/10/23

The house was spacious and beautiful. Climate control throughout and all the amenities we needed for our stay. We had a big group and everything was perfect. Would highly recommend. The view was great and it’s super close to everything Gloucester and the North Shore have to offer.

Great House, Great views of the water, Great location

We enjoyed our stay in Gloucester, MA. Very comfortable and spacious house. Waking up every day and watching the tides rolling in was an added treat. Great location, close to downtown Gloucester and the waterfront. We took the Kayaks out on the water one day and was a great experience. Would highly recommend this house.

Gloucester wedding weekend

We had a really wonderful stay at the Gloucester Riverside Retreat House! Our host was super responsive and the checkin process was a breeze. We had 8 friends in town staying here for a wedding nearby and we couldn’t have found a cozier spot to house everyone. There were beautiful views of the river, and a nice screened in porch to enjoy them from. The interior was very clean and updated. The place feels like a real home, not just a McRental like a lot of places I’ve stayed. The kitchen is nice and big, there’s a cozy living room, and all the beds were super comfortable. We took their kayaks on the river, which was really nice. Great place to cozy up if the weather is rough, or enjoy the area if it’s sunny!
