A big warm welcome to White Cottage, which I have lovingly restored and extended to make what I think is a wonderfully cosy home that I hope you will really enjoy. I have kept as many of the original features as possible, so you may notice a few little quirky features – I just love them 😊.

With wonderful sunsets from the decking area, perfect for a cocktail or two, and a good sized garden for children and pets, plenty of seating, a large fire pit and a summer house in the corner, the south facing garden really is a fabulous spot.

Inside, you can enjoy a stunning, very well equipped, kitchen and open plan dining area, leading to a large sitting room, with three sets of double doors to fully enjoy the balcony and garden, with a cosy wood burning stove for chillier evenings.

Upstairs there are three double bedrooms, one with en-suite bath/shower and a luxurious family bathroom with a large free standing bath and walk-in shower.

There is also a cloakroom with a separate toilet downstairs. One downstairs room off the hallway is reserved for our own possessions.

White Cottage is a former railway cottage, located right next to the stunning Co. Down coast, just a stone's throw from the beach and only a 10 to 15 minute walk along the coastal path to Holywood town. It is an ideal location for both business and pleasure, being a very short walk to Marino halt, with regular services to Bangor and Belfast Grand Central Station.

A train from White Cottage towards Bangor will take you to the Culloden Estate and Spa, the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, many famous golf courses and Crawfordsburn Country Park, before arriving at the seaside town of Bangor, with its wonderful marina and parks.

Towards Belfast, the train will take you to the beautiful town of Hollywood, with its numerous bars, restaurants, local produce, unique shops and art galleries, not forgetting Holywood Golf Club, where Rory McIlroy first started out!

Further along you can access George Best Belfast City Airport, the Titanic Quarter with Titanic Belfast, museums and leisure attractions, before arriving at Belfast Grand Central Station, with its links to the whole island of Ireland. Coaches serve both Belfast and Dublin International Airports from this hub, along with trains to Dublin and the North Coast. Top attractions include the Giant’s Causeway, a World Heritage Site, the world famous golf course, Royal Portrush, host to the Open Championship in 2019 and 2025, and the Game of Thrones Studio Tour.

I do hope that you have a lovely stay at White Cottage and any feedback you wish to make would be greatly appreciated. There is a guest/visitor book at the house should you choose to write about your stay. If you are happy with your stay/experience, the best form of advertising is by word of mouth, so please feel free to spread the word.

Beautiful home in ideal location

This property is even more beautiful in person-every design detail and amenity has been thoughtfully considered. The inside is stunning and the outside deck, patio and garden were perfect for relaxing after a day in Belfast or spent walking along the sea. Highly recommend!

Fantastic property in great location close to Belfast

Cultra is a quiet village situated on the southern side of Belfast Lough only 10 mins drive away from Belfast City Airport. The property itself is very neat, comfortable and well equipped with a hypermarket only 5 mins away (by car) and a local supermarket within easy walking distance. A great place to stay, offering easy access to Belfast and beyond (by car or train). We would most certainly stay here again !

Myself and my family had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cottage . The cottage provided everything we needed for our stay and more. The owner went over and above to accommodate our individual needs Which was really appreciated . We wished we could of stayed longer 😊

A-J couldn’t have been more accommodating, and she has thought of everything! Down to a bottle of bubbly waiting for us when we arrived. Morning walk down on the beach, coffee on the deck, cozy vibes, comfy beds. Can’t say enough.

The most amazing property

We used the property as a base for our wedding party for our wedding in the nearby Cultra Manor. It was perfect - the layout is so social and comfortable with an amazing garden. The property was spotless and so well equipped. The hosts were very helpful throughout. We can’t recommend it enough.

Outstanding Experience

I cannot speaking highly enough about this property. Everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect! Further, the owners went way above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing less than spectacular! They even arranged a private chef and music entertainment for us one night and were available at all times. If you are in the area, this should be your #1 choice to stay!

Holywood USA has nothing on White Cottage

Originally from Bangor I wanted to bring my English in-laws to the country I was brought up in. White Cottage was just the perfect backdrop to a lovely holiday where both strands of my family could meet. The location was idyllic, the house so tastefully decorated and incredibly comfortable. We love cooking and everything was perfectly set up for that. We brought our dogs and they enjoyed the beautiful garden and the treats! I would highly recommend this property, it is simply stunning.

Lovely cottage

Beautifully presented cottage, everyone who came in remarked at how lovely the property is. Location is excellent - walks along the seafront or into Holywood right at hand. Proximity to the train line is also a boon. The owner is very responsive and friendly. The cottage is well stocked with almost everything you might need. For a longer stay you might need to top up the shampoo. Shower gel or soap might also be needed.

Wonderful home in a beautiful area

We recently stayed at White Cottage for a week, while we visited family in the area. I cannot begin to describe how lovely this home is. A-J has provided everything you could possible need in terms of comfort, cleanliness, kitchen ware, etc. Excellent communication before and during our stay. This home truly feels like home away from home. The area is lovely - we took advantage of the proximity to the lovely Cultra coastline and enjoyed lovely walks along the shoreline and into nearby Holywood. Thank you A-J! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

Did not want to leave.

A-J and Colin are two of the most hospitable hosts and kindest of people -- when you need them for anything, they are immediately available. When you need to feel as though you are in your own home and on your own schedule without interruption, the experience is lived. Our two months here flew by and it was really hard to not believe we were at home the whole time. A-J's design eye and expertise in what is comfortable is A1. The beds are Glorious, the towels so large and soft, the sheets are clouds-soft. The heating system is so quiet and extremely efficient. We were not wanting for anything. Colin was always available to answer questions or solve an issue (where's a good pizza place?). Highly recommend!

This was by far the best property I have ever rented. Check-in very easy, and wifi was great. It was very, very clean (immaculate!). Beds and bedding comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with any cooking tool you could possibly need or desire, the decor was beautiful. Kitchen and baths and entire property beautifully updated. The garden and deck area were amazing for relaxing. With the train station beside the cottage you are positioned to visit literally anywhere near or far in Ireland. We did not rent a car this trip. Quick train ride away you have Titanic Quarter and all the culture, restaurants and history in Belfast. Plenty of restaurants including the Dirty Duck with its amazing views and many others in Holywood one train stop away or a quick walk along the sea front. If you like long walks with beautiful scenery this is the place to stay. The Culloden Estate and Spa (afternoon tea, champagne garden and restaurants) and the Ulster Folk Museum are also one train stop away. Once you take the quick train ride into Belfast you can then travel down to Dublin or across the North Coast to many towns, including Derry. It is a nice break from driving. For day trips we used private tour company, Giants Causeway Tours (great (!!) family run business) there are also many bus tours out of Belfast, if you prefer. Sea Front walk is minutes away and has incredible views. Amazing coffee truck on the sea front. You will not be disappointed renting this property!!

A Country Dream in the City!

White Cottage is simply exceptional. We spent three weeks in every country of the UK with three generations of my family (age 8 months to 70 years), and I can say not only was White Cottage the best of the many great holiday homes we chose, it was a destination unto itself. Our matriarch, who was traveling out of the country for the first time, put it best when she said, “Just being in a beautiful country cottage in Ireland is a dream come true.” The cottage had plenty of room for our party of 6, and it was spotless and massively appointed. A-J owns a catering business, so her kitchen is a chef’s dream, with appliances and spices galore. She even had champagne waiting for our arrival and a crib + toys for our little ones set up and ready! Not only are all the spaces perfect — including the massive, dreamy backyard — all the small decorative touches truly do give it a country feel in the middle of the city. Being a one-minute walk to the train station truly opens up the entire country, as well. You’re 20 minutes from Bangor, 15 from the city, and a couple hours from the Portrush and Giants Causeway. You’d be hard pressed to find a better home base or better value for your money in Northern Ireland. Cheers, A-J!

A Great Atmosphere.

A-J and Colin are immensely thoughtful people. We were able to have a last minute reservation for our daughter's party and we were welcomed into the home to towering balloons, well wishing banner and a'yes' to our RSVP. The home was filled with friends and we counted A-J and Colin, along with his daughter, as three of them. The cottage is meticulously maintained, fresh and airy. New landscaping with flowering shrubbery made for a delightful cuppa on the deck, alone, after a full day of festivities, to reflect. The apple-laden tree was a picture. We have our puppy, who could easily wreak havoc, but they love dogs, and ours is no exception, so I am not nervous when managing his puppydom. The beds are a dream, the towels large and soft, thick robes and slippers--a virtual spa feeling. Each room is well-tended and beautifully decorated and solid windows (never felt Storm Betty batting about the night of our stay) and thick doors, so I never worry waking anyone with my early rise. The deep baths are a dream and colored bath bombs, without the perfume, make them magical. One of our guests, a 13yo, said in a email, in regard to the party, "there was a great atmosphere." Yes, that is how White Cottage can be summed up. A big recommend to all.

This is an amazing property

This is the best self-catering we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in a lot): beautifully appointed, extremely well equipped and impeccably clean. Comfortable, quiet and secure with easy access to Belfast. I could go on and on. AJ and Collin are a couple of lifes finest. We would definitely stay again. Do your self a favor and stay here.

A house fit for a wedding!

Our daughter was getting married in Belfast, we wanted a property close to her home, where friends and family could gather over the wedding week, where my daughter and the bridesmaids could prepare on the wedding morning and we could have a relaxing time. The Cottage is most generously resourced with everything you could ever want, full of home comforts and practical equipment.. it was amazing. The outdoor deck with its stunning views was a great place to relax. AJ is the perfect host, excellent communication and support and really helpful in every way. I really cannot rate this property highly enough.. you will be lucky to book the Cottage.

SO AMAZING!!!

We absolutely adored this property, I don’t think it could’ve been any better. Do not hesitate to book this property, the house is amazing and almost better than a five-star hotel, the proximity to the train station is ideal and makes it so easy to head into Belfast if that is your plan. If and when we come back we will absolutely stay here again we were so sad to leave.

Perfection

Beautiful pty, also used for catering for a wake, did not want to leave, every detail thought out. Hosts pampered us.

Absolutely perfect! Everything you could need and more. Though fully executed property minutes from the beach and a short drive or train to Belfast.
