Lovely stay here, a good walk (25 mins) into town along the beach walk each morning for morning coffee was a highlight. Clean property with comfortable beds. Friendly staff. A pool table free to use. Quiet at night even though on the main road into Kaikoura. We will happily stay here again. Thank you Fiona and team.

Rating 3 stars, as although the room was spacious and the check in staff was friendly, there was no cook top included with the kitchenette suite! We specifically book motels with kitchenettes, as we travel as a family and eating out gets expensive. The staff said there was a BBQ in the common area for quests to use, but in our opinion that's not very convenient, nor super practical for cooking.

The staff were friendly which was the only real positive. The picture advertised was not what we experienced as we were put on a ground floor room facing the road. Peace & quiet this was not we many rowdy guests inebriated throughout the grounds. The room was basic with no air conditioning with the weather really warm so the ground floor windows needed to be left open to try and cool the room. This did not feel a secure place to stay with my wife & teenage daughter. The window in the shower room also needed to be opened to stop the smoke alarm going off which made both girls feel very uncomfortable that someone could see in whilst they were showering from the car park or road. There are better places to stay for families in the local area which we experienced and hence our 2* rating.
